The Lockheed Katana, a single blade 'nanocopter', based on the design of a sycamore seed. http://www.theregister.co.uk/200…

i cannot find the article right now but i read that some scientists are planning to genetically cross cows with spiders. the milk of the chimera is supposed to be spun. the gained yarn is said to be woven to bullet-proof vests. (i can't get rid of the idea that those cowders are going to redefine the meaning of world wide web).

K, it's more 'scary' in the sense that it's so utterly of The Future.
There have been murmerings of space-based power generation from orbiting solar catchment platforms (notably, by DARPA and the governments of India and Micronesia) for a while now.
Now, at last, a firm commitment has been made by a major American utilities firm to buy power from a company that intends to have the systems in place by 2016.
Given that gov'ts interest in zero-carbon power sources and promotion of space tech, this might actually get through regulatory hurdles.

It's the fucking future, man.
