Dancer, its the 'mature' side project of the Jack Wills Varsity Outfitters brand. Both have appeared out of nowhere and are privately owned by British Asian businessmen. They have an inhouse design team doing all the stuff. Pretty impressive I think, there's one of each shop here in Brighton and I was flabberghasted when I saw how rich and plentiful their graphic language was.
- Their plan was to create a British A&F before A&F nabbed the niche for themselves.Orbit

The clothes are not really my thing but my GF bought something from there and the pacaging as amazing. I have just received the mail order brochure today and the choice of stock, graphics and photo's are all very well done. Very rare for an inhouse team to be this switched on I think.

^ I think the whole team have been together for a while. I could be totally wrong about this but I personally think they might be the people who did Blue Guru and Etienne Ozeki in the late 90's early 00's. I tried to join their team around that time but they were really flatly not interested in being approached and were very protective about the team they had.
Whoever is behind this has an absolutely shitload of money. The other possibility is that it is actually A&F/GAP bankrolling it. Gap UK is in terminal decline and A&F planned to arrive to replace them on the UK high street, but after looking into it I think it was decided it wouldn't be quite as lucrative over here due to its overtly American flavour. So it could well be "A&F UK", but the team are definitely Brits from the asian apparel trade.

The Jack Wills site is really nice.
I went into the shop in Bicester Village. Great if you want to be a Sloane Clone.

Yeah I just rung them and asked who they used.
"Sorry we cannot give out that information"Isn't their head office in Acton?

It was 'invested' by Inflexion so I would guess that the original owner retains royalties and brand ownership rights but is no longer active in the business at all. Inflexion would have sold the license to a suitable licensee who will now be responsible for the entire operation. The people I think are behind it now are called PurplePin Designs Ltd. Appalling website, but that's generally the way it is behind the scenes with brand licensees.

They did Alpha Numeric and Mecca which were both huge urban sport brands in the US, and they then tried and failed to establish EO and BlueGuru in the European denim market.
