Hi all,
Just looking for a few examples of nice identity systems for secondary schools. Stationary, signage etc. My local school has asked me to help them out.
I've been experimenting and it's all a little corporate at the moment. They have 0 budget and a big committee to pass everything by but I'd like to do something nice for them.
All I have right now is a Grafik article on North's lovely branding project for Open University. But I'd appreciate a few other fine examples.
Thanks!

something nice + big committee to go through = unfun project that will look like shit in the end

You're probably right, but I'd like to give it a shot. The 5% chance that it'll go well is enough motivation. I've had far worse briefs and clients in the ad agency I left a few months ago.

Anyone? I thought I'd give this a wee bump as late UK people with be up and about.

Well, the client is an old catholic boys school in Dublin - http://www.stbenilduscollege.com…... Used to be ultra-conservative but are changing, finally. They've already started with a lovely, tasteful new wing and now are looking to break away from the DTP template stuff they've been sold for signage and stationary (think template diaries and stuff like that).
Target audience are the 12-18 year old student population, teachers and staff, parents and prospective students and parents. The brief brief was for clarity and modernity. Also taking into consideration that most of the stationary will be photocopied and signage will need to be able to withstand graffiti/vandalism. They specifically asked for a roadside sign, car park directional signs, letterheads and diary ideas to begin with.

Thanks a million for all that uncle_helv!

Sounds great, almost a perfect brief (minus the budget) now just get on with it, and don't get weighed down with looking at what other people do, it's too easy to get side tracked and confused!!

Initial direction is a bit like this. They've wanted to retain Optima and the original mark, but I've revised it somewhat. It's all loose/rough still though, so don't rip apart my kerning or lack of grid.
The slant is ment to mark the level of education (2/3s type of thing) as well as an 'onwards and upwards' sentiment.
