There's a magazine store on Park Avenue South between 17th and 18th, right around the corner from the BN and across from the W Hotel. They usually have a good selection of magazines.
Also, Universal News, on 23rd Street between 6th and 5th ave.

Wow, what did I start?
Thanks to those who recommended some shops. I totally forgot about Zakka, good call. Borders definitely doesn't carry CR, at least the one I checked.
If I manage to find it I'll let you guys know where for those interested.

be more creative, you can live without that magazine. spend your time on something else than looking for a magazine all over town. ;P

oh there was one of these relatively small but PACKED magazine stores (which i think had some computers for net also) down on broadway and somewhere between prince & grand st. or there abouts on the left side if your going downtown. has tons of mags. floor to ceiling. could try that too.

as mentioned, I used to check out the big barnes and noble on union square and if that didn't help just up the street on park ave and 17/18 st there's a small newstand/magazine shop which carried it as well i think.

I just picked up this months CR and out of 78 pages, there's about 40 pages of content, of which most of it is about fonts and branding.
It's amazing how irrelivant most of it is concidering that publications like eye cover that shit.
I used to know some guys who worked on the mag, they've all gone, and it's likethey just got in some numpties in.
I think the major issue imo is that they have no opinion on anything, they just show 'cool stuff' most of which I've seen on the internet.
For example they have a double page spread on Peaches Geldof's new publishing venture and how bad it is. Thank for that, if it's shit, dont put it in teh magasine.
rant over

Did anyone ever read Creative Review in the 80's? It was a whole different publication then. Really into the craft of the industry. It would feature different technicians who would give really in-depth articles about what they do. It was a great magazine then, very serious and heavyweight.
I guess Creative Review reflects the times though. Design is now so cheap and superfluous, shallow and whimsical, and so easy to make just by sitting in a chair behind a desk. So the magazine reflects that by spattering its pages with colourful eye candy and latching on to 'this month's next big thing'.
I suspect most mainstream print periodicals will die between now and 2010.
- I wish I could read in the 80skalkal
- I started reading the mag in the 90s and it was good then, quality magazine. I have not brought a copy for 8 years now.roundabout

Incase no one read the note above.
Design Issues by MIT and eye magazine are far superior design mags than creative review now.

It's too jam packed with ads to be honest imo anyway, although you could argue from a designers perspective, that is content too but I'd rather actually have more editoral content with spotlights and interviews on designers, I can see ads anywhere
- Sorry, I tend to steal threads a lot like this when I get into a rant. So so sorry. 10000x sorrieskalkal
- I agree. I used to read Creative Review all the time - I have back issues from 1988, but stopped subscribing when the ad content got too heavy.Melanie
- ... got too heavy.
Check out Design Issues published by MIT. and eye magazine. Way better.Melanie

I know Barnes and Nobles use to carry it but I can't find it there anymore. Very weird.

It's getting harder to find it anywhere at least it seems to me, they used to stock it in a few stores around me and now they don't...

Anyone know where I can find the current issue of Creative Review mag in NYC? I've checked a few newsstands and book stores but no one seems to carry it.
