denim washing is fine for stone washed jeans, but not for treated denim or raw denim or indigo denim, as you will lose all the effects created for the look, the longer denim is washed the softer it will get, however, denim is such a great fabric spun from cotton that wear and tear lasts and individual whiskers and abrassions will happen naturally that when washed all that greatness fades away and you are left with just boring denim...

did you know there are over 110 parts to create a single 5 pocket construction pair of jeans.

Ha, I saw this pop up and thought 'Wow, QBN has a denim thread'.. then quickly realized I posted here 3 years ago. So I guess I'll just use this as my denim journal.
Update to my denim status:
The Momotaro 0701s from my previous post ended up being worn almost every day until a month ago. Probably washed them a dozen times. I had them repaired twice for crotch blowouts. But they look and feel so nice. They were starting to get holes in random places (wallet pocket, etc) so I decided to get my next pair and keep those as a backup.
I just purchased a pair of ONI 546zr (20oz) and the denim is insane. These are so thick that I feel like I'm wearing armor made of denim. You can see some pictures (not me) here: https://imgur.com/a/Znagi
Here's a detail of the denim:
I really love the history and craftsmanship of Japanese denim - and also seeing how the denim fades over time.

At what point does one toss their jeans? There's some inner fray above the ankle area and front pocket area along the cell.
- haha fucking hell dude.Nairn
- I throw clothes when I can't fix them up any more or they're actually threadbare and at risk of spontaneously falling apart.Nairn
- If you like an item of clothing, you hold on to it and use it for as long as dear god will let you - who gives a shit what it looks like or what people think?Nairn
