Hi James,
Thanks for the info. I have not really looked into Gmail alternative to email but I do have 3 accounts so I think this option may not work too well if I want to send from my phone

Why don't you just get the free trial and make up your own mind instead of asking people to "sell" it to you.

just asking for personal experiences that's all

the push mail doesn't even work does it?
there's all kinds of apps and solutions you can get for free, mobile me is just a branded one stop lifetime tie-in.
I just use the same IMAP account on my iphone as I have on my MBP, which I can also access as webmail if need be, so that's my mail synced. ical/address book syncs by plugging in so that's fine. You can use a myriad of different things for files and there's airsharing to use your phone as file storage too.
Mobile Me is redundant if you can just be bothered to look around
- ie; dropbox, box.net, sugar syncmax_prophet
- sadly my iphone is out of action for now, and I'm back in nokia hell :(max_prophet

Ok, So I can get the phone to pull in email say every 15 mins, yeah?
If so, then that is fine.Calendar and address book can sync when plugged in (as you said), and I have just found air Share which looks like it could be useful.
Looks like i will spend my £60 on some Christmas Eggnog then.
The only thing I want to be sure if is getting email... that's all
- you can but you'll have to have mail open i think, though I think gmail pushmail may work ok now..max_prophet

- Surely having mail open is irrelevant as the iphone just dials up my webserver.Dancer

Whilst I am here, is there any apps that would help me out with my work/life set up... Not interested in gimicky stuff.
- max_prophet0
yeah look up igtd for your computer, I think there's something called.. Things which is meant to be good, but there was a better one that I found.. forget the name though. And it was either free or cheaper than Things.

theres a great notes app called writing pad, the way it types is amazing, you just drag your finger from one letter to the next and it predicts. super easy!
- max_prophet0
oh and Around Me is a good one for finding things nearby based on your location
- max_prophet0
Dont forget Light saber - its a must have essential!

I considered this. I now use google apps mail for my domain which is imapped to my mail app on MBP and mail app on iPhone. Works fine. There's a couple of quirks with Gmail and Mail app but none that prevent it being used. I do like the idea of 'the cloud' though but am a bit scared of it just yet.

Also, Fring for Skype and Truphone for international calls

Also, my hosts give unlimited webspace, so I can just upload files, make a password / https and that's good storgae I can access anywhere
