i have one of those gaggia auto whatsits, and it's fantastic and all, and mostly broken, so i just use the french press these days. i got the cheapest conical burr grinder i could find, which allows you to adjust the grind so it's really coarse for french press. water to 198 degress, 4 tablespoons of grinds, 4 minutes.

Gotta sadly retract my previous post about my fancy coffee maker. It was great...until it stopped working. I'm on the french press wagon meself.

- yeah fuck keurig and nespresso and all those other wasteful things.sarahfailin
- The injection system constantly gets clogged too. And you have to slam it agains the trash can to get the old grinds out.HijoDMaite
- I’ve had one for like 7 years, using every single day and it’s never clogged before. Easy to clean and maintain and it works like new. No grains anywhere.monospaced

Aeropress in my experience is the best. No plastic capsules. And super easy to pop out into trash the used coffee grounds, rinse and it's clean. Everything else is a faff to clean, or uses up the worlds resources such as plastic or paper for filters etc.
Overall it's the most minimal way to make a decent coffee. Play with amount of coffee / Water amount / Water temp and you can get a decent brew.
- totally. I have used only aeropress for my coffee the last year. just upgraded my grinder (above) and ordered a replacement plunger for the AP to keep it rockinsarahfailin
- Yeah we have a regular French press but rarely use it. The metal mesh doesn’t filter enough. There’s always little grinds in the coffee.HijoDMaite

- got it for $99 at Saks Off 5th Ave websitesarahfailin
- Nice. Kind of big for a grinder. Would take a lot of space in our condo. But I like the no static.HijoDMaite
- i'm between this / Capresso / and leaning towards Baratza atm. This one is pretty but my current Bodum makes me miserable.MrAbominable

- i use something similar, i like it better than all the french presses I broke n shitmoldero
- I'm sure it's great, but lol @ 'saving trees' - the invested energy in its production must outweight that of trees by at least an order of magnitude :)Nairn
- @Nairn well, I still think in the long run it has lesser footprint than billions of bleached filters to go in the trashBeeswax
- Hey, if it does the job and lasts a decade or two, it's all good :)Nairn

- sorry should have said Wilfa coffee maker and grinder: https://shop.3fe.com…Daithi

- We've got a thermo carafe version, it's great.ben_
- I personally wanted the thermal carafe version, but my wife wanted this one. The "rolling" heating element actually does a great job of not burning the coffee.bulletfactory
- Fucking MOCCAMASTER damn you. Everything you expected? I'm ready to pull the trigger on one...ideaist
- Yeah the one you have is nicer looking (not saying that's why your wife wanted it :) ) I actually got the thermal one from an amazon returns auction for $95.ben_
- I have that Baratza Encore and it's a really nice addition to my french press carafe. But it's horribly loud and costs way more than it feels.MrAbominable
- I do love this coffee maker. Not sure if it's in my head, but it makes really smooth tasting coffee... Probably because it doesn't get burnt. Highly recommend!bulletfactory
