The SD Zoo is looking for a Web Developer for only $17.84/hour
Isn't this a rip-off considering all the skills they require? (Advanced Coldfusion, ugh) This makes me angry...grrr!KNOWLEDGE OF:
Full life cycle of software development (requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation)
LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP)
Web design, layout and coding HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (Full CSS Layouts), JavaScript,
Adobe Suite software (Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop)
Advanced ColdFusion
Actionscript (2.0 + 3.0), XML/Flash integration highly desirable
Social networking API’s (Flickr, MySpace, Facebook, etc) and Web 2.0 techniques desirable
CDN’s, Enterprise level CMS and Digitial Asset Management solutions strongly desired
Experience/knowledge of virtual computing environments (such as EC2) a plus

that's got to be written by an HR person with no knowledge of any of those skills. Stuff like that used to drive me crazy.

I don´t get it.. why $17.84? and not 17 or 18? weird weird

Sounds like they just don't know what the proper rates are for those skill sets and/or they don't have the budget.
- Sounds like someone said $40 an hour. And they said $17.85.epete22

What is the problem? Ar they forcing you to work there? Not at all.
The problem is most people expect to see a competitive salary when a company that large (and may I add, living in San Diego is not cheap) offers that little.I can believe in a way it worries people, thinking that this is what's going on out there.. a big list of requirements in return of small wages.
If you are not worried, then you:
A) are not a programmer.
B) are not a monkey.
C) got your education for free.
D) you live in a country where the monetary conversion is inferior to the U.S. dollar.
E) love peanuts.
F) are responsible for writing that ad.
G) love working with animals.- it's san diego. they're looking to attract all those border-crossing web developers coming in from mexico7point34
