[George's Car]
George and Susan, heading home from the restaurant. George is happy,
smiling and whistling.
GEORGE: I think they really went for that Soda.
SUSAN: What, are you crazy? They hated it. They were just humouring
you.
GEORGE: Ah, alright. Believe me, that kid's gonna be called Soda.
SUSAN: I can tell you, I would never name my child Soda.
GEORGE: Oh, no no no. Course not. I got a great name for our kids. A
Real original. You wanna hear what it is? Huh, you ready?
SUSAN: Yeah.
George uses his finger to draw a number 7 in the air, accompanying the
Strokes of his digit with a two-tone whistle.
SUSAN: What is that? Sign language?
GEORGE: No, Seven.
SUSAN: Seven Costanza? You're serious?
GEORGE: Yeah. It's a beautiful name for a boy or a girl...
Susan scoffs.
GEORGE: ...especially a girl. Or a boy.
SUSAN: I don't think so.
GEORGE: What, you don't like the name?
SUSAN: It's not a name. It's a number.
GEORGE: I know. It's Mickey Mantle's number. So not only is it an all
Around beautiful name, it is also a living tribute.
SUSAN: It's awful. I hate it!
GEORGE: (angry) Well, that's the name!
SUSAN: (also angry) Oh no it is not! No child of mine is ever going to
be named Seven!
GEORGE: (yelling) Awright, let's just stay calm here! Don't get all
crazy on me!

On a related note, Apple better create a genetic engineering division or else they're gonna run out of cats to name their OS after

In their defense.
Windows has had mainly a negative response when it comes to their brand perception. So it's just natural that they are looking to separate their brand from previous releases.Seven is a great name (George Constanza came up with it) cause its simple, and its not pretentious (inho at least).
Vista, leopard, Tiger, those are just straight up ridicoulus, i can never remember what am I on, tiger, leopard, or panther.
Is just like Venti, Grande and whatever is the other one.
Call it Medium Large and Small, keep it simple.- clearly you realize the the cat names are the 'project' names. the true 'name of the OS is 10.x...madirish
- clearly I do, and clearly you realize that system is very confusing right?Meeklo
- not particularly as i forget the cat name as soon as i install it, and purely remember in am on which 'version' of the OS, etc.madirish

it's taken me forever to remember my os x flavor - leapord, tiger, panther, calico, fuck, i forgot again..
and the incremental 'build versions' of each os doesn't make things much easier. uhhh... ten-dot-something.... just a simple real number will do.
- I think if you said 'I'm on version 43' it would be less informative to people than '10.5.5'.ribit

mac os X is up to 10.5, snowleopard will be 10.6
surely that means they only need 3 more cats until they switch to os XI or something?

Nicely put but don't forget people's mentality...
If they use one product over another, they automatically assume and believe that the other product is shit. That is why OS X peeps will always slag Windows off, no matter what.
It's a bit like when people say a band is 'shit'. What they actually mean is they don't like their music. Big difference.
