I still say buying a used laptop is gross

It is a nice break in price. When I buy computers ... I like going all out except for the memory aspect. Apple products are hard to upgrade with exception for the memory and hard drives (laptops). Make sure you try to get the top of line. ;)

Jnr_Madison, I only used Parallels, so I don't know. I read Parallels blocked a whole processor core for itself, while vmware was more flexible.
I think both can utilize Bootcamp partition (Parallels can, I tried - very handy indeed), but you'll be better off googling for reviews and comparisons. Why don't you install a bootcamp windows and try it with each? I think both have monthly trials.

rafalski - i can tell you that parallels is a computer crusher. it turned my mbp into an almost unusable p.o.s. i switched to vmware fusion and holy shit i got my computer back. now it's no problem to have ps3, safari, adium, entourage AND vmware running XP open at once. parallels sucks.
- in my opinion of course.kona
- good info. thanks.Jnr_Madison

They do have minis from time to time. Not sure about other countries, UK/Ireland store gets updated recently about 1am.

what spec/price is the mini Baskerville?

Aw man, there's a black MacBook with 2GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive for $1299 on the site right now. Would be perfect for Serato! I wish I had cash... :(

where do these come from? are they mainly returned or are they backstock?

I got my refurb MBP a month ago. No problems yet.
They're fine. They were returned for some reason, but had any problems repaired.

it's like buying a demo car.
- rafalski0
Not exactly Llyod. A demo can show some signs of use. While with some companies you can tell a refurb was used and reconditioned, with Apple the only thing to indicate it is the gray box. The exterior looks completely new. With iPods it is always 100% new as an Apple refurb gets a new serial number which is engraved on iPod's case.
Someone once reported here his Apple refurb laptop looked used on the outside, but it was the only single time I ever heard of something like that.

Small update. Ordered the macbook yesterday, it had now been delivered to my studio. How's that for fast turnaround?
So far I'm impressed!
- rafalski0
Does it feel used at all? Any bad pixels? Pubes Does the keyboard smell funny and Safari have inappropriate pages in browsing history?
- rafalski0
Didn't you say the mini was for sale? What spec is it?..
- don't know off hand. I'm at work. It's an old one (like over 2 years old, not intel)
BaskerviIle - You might want to keep it as a media centre, ie wireless. home iTunes server..rafalski
