"The biggest difference is... using command instead of control"
and one of the best things, what idiot decided to move the main shortcut key to the edge of the keyboard.

Just made the switch 2 weeks ago. Got a MBP; It's last years model - I got it new for $1800 from a local store the day after the new ones were announced. It was incredible timing cuz it was their last one and they were trying to offload to make room for the new inventory. I am reeeely glad I didn't go with the new ones - I have heard there are glitches with the new trackpad. I haven't been on a Mac since OS9.x so I am learning the ropes again, but I am loving it. I am going to get one for my wife now. I surprised at how many of you have recently made the switch like me. This thread should be helpful to me!

oh, and the biggest piece of advice, get apple care. you have up to your first year to do so. In the past, i have sent in a computer for a broken key and it returned back to me with a new case, mouse trackpad, logic board and a bunch of stuff i didnt ask for.

i dont ever shut down my machines. I notice alot of windows switchers sit there and shut down the whole computer just to transport it home or go somewhere. just shut the lid and it goes to sleep. it takes about 5 seconds for it to start back up.

One thing immediately noticeable about mac vs pc is with the speed that macs launch. I have a new mbp and a new hp/vista that's fairly fast for a 700 dollar machine. The mbp starts up within less than a minute while the vista box takes 2-3 minutes. Anybody know why this is? loading drivers or something?
- type msconfig into the run command and turn off apps you don't need from starting up on launch. Also turn off the windows loading screen,Jnr_Madison
- turn off the what?Llyod
- osx keeps pantalooning in the background after pretending to be finished by showing you the finder.invisiblechamber
- under the BOOT.ini tab on msconfig click the NOGUIBOOT to stop the windows loading screen on startup.Jnr_Madison

if you're familiar with unix just put the terminal hotkey to a visible place, and you'll find most basic thing what you used with bash.
if the only os you used was the windows, the hardest thing to learn will be the whole apple philosophy...
