MB or MB Pro!! Ring around your mates and get a studying younger brother/sister to buy it for you with good discount and a free nano!! go go go!!!
Hey, i have one of those siblings!!

...as it happens yes. but I doubt she would take it to HK or India. She commutes everyday on the train but I would like her to be able to work on it as well. Not just answer emails but do the odd bit of work.

I reckon I could haggle down to £700 actually
It's either this or a 13" MB which is £1,149.00

What is it for?
Travel?
Good. It's lightweight, that's the only reason to choose it.Design?
She might want to have more screen real estate (ie. mb pro).
I don't think Air's ram can be upgraded above 2GB (but check that).
Air has a non-standard small hard drive, a bit slower than other laptops'. Harder to upgrade too. Will she bee hooking it up to a monitor? Air has somewhat limited connectivity (needs more converters/hubs and stuff).
I'd say, it is only good for her if she needs to carry it around with her all the time. Otherwise, I'd look for a mb pro deal.

It depends what she wants to use it for. I'm assuming she's going to want to use Photoshop, for that money you could get something with more umph, that's right I said umph, behind it. This would make it smoother, faster and better. Innit.

Well she won't be able to install anything else or use cds/dvds unless she also gets a superdrive which is another £65 and something else to carry about, plus a usb hub cos its only got one usb port. So actually the more she'll use it the more peripherals she'll need to do everyday tasks. Go macbook or macbook pro.

I just got myself a MacBook (black), 2.16ghz, 160 HD, 4gb Memory 13.3inch (I think) for £450 second hand, great nick.

She does have a second computer at work. So this will not be souly for work use.... hmmm I will have to think about it... the no disc drive is an issue...
Maybe worth spending the extra £450-£500 for a MB

Its funny, was in Dixons on Monday and saw the Macbook Air on display and thought, wow thats so thin and light and lovely and then saw a stack of superdrives sitting beside it and thought, well thats a bit bloody stupid. Then I went off to look at the macbook pro, which although is bigger and heavier, just looks much nicer and feels like a more complete computer.
