Hey... I'd either get the Air or MB Pro. Not the MB.
In terms of power Air is quite a close match to MB, also sharing the same small screen. It is very light and this seems to be a factor somewhat.
Pro has it all: power and bigger screen. It is heavier though. But 13.3" MB has almost the same weight as the Pro while its screen size leaves a lot to be desired..
I have two of them 13.3's - they're only good because they don't get to travel a lot and have external monitors. They're desktop machines with an option to be detached at times.
In this case, I'd look/wait a week for deals on the old Pro. There will be plenty.
- I still think the Macbook is more portable and does everything the user needs.Jaline
- (screen size is fine with me, but that depends on what someone will be doing with it, of course)Jaline
- I think the new MacBook will be quite a lot more powerful than the Air... 2.4GHz, DDR3 RAM, faster bus etc...Raniator
- Jaline.. screen size might be ok for an organized person you are. We need lots of space for our shit though ;)rafalski

Air is a great machine. I got a 1.8Ghz version and its perfect. Can you not get along to an Apple store and try one side by side with a MB?

How is CS3 on it? Office?
hmmm I am going for the 1.6GhZ as well

I'm in a similar dilemma myself. I want/need a laptop and after you (Dancer) posted this thread I started to talk myself out of getting a new MB and going for a refurb Air.
Air plus side:
It's lightweight/thin etc – encourage me to travel with it more (ie. when I don't *need* it, but I might as well take it anyway, just in case).Air negative side:
No optical drive is a problem...
One USB port is kinda stingy...
1.6/1.8GHz plus stripped back architecture + 2GB RAM limit is also a bit tight...
64GB/80GB hard drive is weeny by todays standards. I wouldn't need to store movies/video on it, but will have photos on and because I DJ it would have lots of music on it. I could fill 50GB of it with house tunes and that's without buying anything new in the meantime......so, I've pretty much ruled the Air out of the equation. I'm going to go for the MacBook.
When I hear you ask? Well that is another interesting question. Someone pointed out yesterday that I could wait until Apple's next 'event' - MacWorld San Franciso in January. It wouldn't surprise me if Apple didn't launch the new 17" MacBook Pro then and drop the 'cheap' white MacBook from it's lineup which could in turn mean slightly lower prices for the just released models or even speed bumps regarding processors etc.
Technology is a bit of a bugger with this sort of thing, you'll wait forever if you keep waiting for the next new model, but the thing that confused me the most about Tuesday's notebook event is that I can't understand why they left the current 17" Pro and a white MacBook in their product range. Did Apple have to rush out the current models? Make you wonder if the 17" isn't too far away and what that might do to the existing (read: just released) MacBook range.
