Looks like tits or balls or something, I think maybe a weight somewhere between the two might work best.

if you're starting either a stereo retail outlet or infomercial sales in the 70's i'd have to go with the left one.
have you tried a logo with 'james barry' rather that just JB? it looks / sounds kinda cheap as just JB to me.
my 2 cents. please ignore if found.

Second one looks like tits and ass. I like it.

I see already you could make a play off the apple's command symbol on their keyboards. keep it thin.

the J kinda looks a like a d to me when i first saw it.

I like the form and negative space in the first one. But, because I read the previous comments, it does look like thick, hairless balls.

at first glance the J looks like an 'a' on the first one.

The more I look at it, it begins to read as "db" for me instead of "Jb". #2 more so than #1 though.

I agree with the comments of the "J" looking like a "d"
I've been through this a lot, my initials are JB as well. I think if you're going to go minimalist with it, make sure you know what makes a J a J. I think if the tail didn't start to come back towards the body and instead pointed upwards, it would be a lot more successful. It's a small change, but check it out:

I see a cock and balls and a pair of tits.

I agree with airey.

The B looks top-heavy in either.. have you tried flipping it horizontally? (I know that willdistort your reflective-ness between the letterforms)
