Anyone seen this yet? Looks interesting but expensive. Thoughts (from anyone in the print industry especially)?

why not just have a piece of paper saying 'visit esquire' and flap it with your arms

2 words: 'different' and 'intrigue'
Some of you designers really need to think out side the box. With the world becoming greener and the print based medium drying up, companies like this have to think of ideas to get people interested.
I'm not saying it is the greatest, but it would stand out on the news stands, and 'BINGO!!!' they have done their job!

When I worked at Toy"R"Us as package designer, this e-ink was brought up in a project, wow, this was back in 2002... In any case, the idea was that a child would be able to press a "click here and hear the sound" of the different sound that the toy would make, and gimmicks like that. All the flashiness of the packaging would attract the kid buyer...
The idea never launched, I know pricing was a big issue, and some other concerns...

On it's own this magazine cover is fairly ho-hum. But when arrayed on a shelf like in Esquire's video, it's pretty cool.

the power source only lasts 3 weeks i heard. +1 for trying this though, regardless of execution. it's created a buzz, which was no doubt their intention.
