Dawes, Kalinin, and Prucha for Morris, who is a UFA after the season? Silly Rangers.

(long post warning. if you cant read more than 2 compete sentences per post, you're better off here : http://www.qbn.com/topics/569349… . i'm just posting this because i want other people's opinions or ideas)
This year's NHL All-Star game was slighly more entertaining. However, the format needs a little innovation. It’s like watching an old-timers game. Unless serious changes happen, I can’t imagine myself ever enjoying an All-Star game ever again. Here’s a list of recommendations:
1. Move the All-Star game date from mid-season to the off-season. The mid-season break means nothing to me as a fan and viewer. Having the All-Star game mid-summer would give everybody a little taste of hockey to break up the long summer drought.
2. Eliminate fan voting. The players themselves should vote for the All-Star line-up. This way, it might mean more to the players themselves. There’s a large part of me that thinks that most players believe the current format is a nice diversion, nothing more. The honour of being selected to the All-Star game doesn’t exist anymore and I believe this to be entirely the fault of the current fan-voting system. It’s nice to see so many Habs players dressing up in the All-Star garb but I’m annoyed that it really doesn’t mean anything. None of them have actually earned their spots. Especially on the starting line-up.
3. Assuming my first recommendation is implemented, the host city should be the same as the Stanley Cup victors. Hosting the All-Star game should be a privilege earned through team effort, not by pushing some brilliant business model. Hosting the game 4 weeks after the final Stanley Cup game seems like a decent amount of prep time.
4. The uniforms need to go. I’m not going to budge on this one. The jersers that sell the most are any classic or vintage uniforms. I never thought I’d say this but can we have the hideous orange from the 80’s back, please? The one arm red/blue and the other white with awful streaks all over the place were just pure garbage.
5. Gary Bettman has to go. That’s a no-brainer. There have been a lot of good changes implemented during his tenure but I’ve just about had it. Every major sporting league in North America has stated in public that economic futures are dire and that serious changes need to be done in order to keep afloat. Except the NHL that is. I think the blame goes entirely on Bettman’s shoulders, tiny ones as they may be.- 1. No 2. No 3. No 4. OK 5. OK, but give him bus fare homeboobs

The Penguins haven't hit their streak yet.
Looking for a 4/5 spot for the playoffs hopefully.
- I hope we don't make the playoffs and get some good players... (it would be stupid to trade Spezza, as he is good)Jaline

benfal, this just one of those weird questions that came in my head - and I was just wondering your thoughts. In no way am I trying to start a political discourse, or anything of the sort ... the question itself leads to humourous in my mind, especially after this morning.
Since you consider yourself a separatist ... what is your take on people from Quebec wanting to get a NHL team back to replace the Nordiques? :D
If you broke away, would you* still want a NHL hockey team?
* I have no idea if you even want a NHL team back in teh first place, just that there are groups of people who deux.

The Sens are playing the best hockey in their division right now, and I hope it's because they finally found a good coach. With Leclaire, maybe things will get better. I don't know if it's too late for them to grab a spot in the playoffs or not.

Well, that was fun.
- Jaline0
I hope so.
Anyone have preferences on what style and how the scoring should be done?

I would get rid of the All-Star break and about 20 games from the regular season. The playoffs go all the way into June - that time of year is for the beach not sitting in front the T.V.
Instead of the All-Star break have several regular season outdoor classic games in the same weekend. And not in regular NHL team cities but small towns with tiny little rinks. Turn out would be huge and it would be a great way to get fans involved that would otherwise never get to see a game. Plus the games would matter, which would make them worth watching.

Awwww, this is so adorable.

- whaaat?! I don't remember that...Jaline
- I know you have Crosby like every year though. I always go for a Sens (CASH/Pizza Line) member.Jaline
- Crosby got hurt and my team went downhill. :X
