Study: 'Conservative' Movies Make More Money Than 'Liberal' Movies
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com…Patriotism and traditional values, like those displayed in "Thor," "The Artist," "Soul Surfer" and "Hugo," are what moviegoers want, says a group that will honor such films at an awards gala Friday.
Wanna make money in Hollywood? Release patriotic movies that promote conservative values and do not denigrate Christianity.

WTF?
What part of the norse gods in Valhalla having one of their wayward sons get chased across a desert by a nefarious, secretive extra-legal and non-Constitutional group of the United States government fit into either "Patriotism" or "Christianity" exactly?
- TheBlueOne0
"The Artist"? Alcoholism, secular culture idol worship, suicidal death trips and divorce.
"Hugo" Drunken father, child abuse, French street kid steals tools to build some sort of mechanical man. In France.
How are any of these Christian or Patriotic...

Gallup: Obama's approval below reelection standard

'I Feel Duped on Climate Change'
http://www.spiegel.de/internatio…The articulate utility executive is nervous at the beginning of the conversation. He is groping for words -- not a common occurrence for the practiced provocateur. After all, Fritz Vahrenholt, 62, who holds a doctorate in chemistry, has been a rebel throughout his life. "Perhaps it's just part of my generation," he says.
He is typical of someone who came of age during the student protest movement of the late 1960s, and who fought against the chemical industry's toxic manufacturing plants in the 1970s. His party, Germany's center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD), chose him as environment senator in the city-state of Hamburg, where he incurred the wrath of the environmental lobby by building a waste incineration plant, earning him the nickname "Feuerfritze" (Fire Fritz). He worked in industry after that, first for oil multinational Shell and then for wind turbine maker RePower, which he helped develop. Now, as the outgoing CEO of the renewable energy group RWE Innogy, he is about to embark on his next major battle. "I'm going to make enemies in all camps," he says.
He wants to break a taboo. "The climate catastrophe is not occurring," he writes in his book "Die Kalte Sonne" (The Cold Sun), published by Hoffmann and Campe, which will be in bookstores next week.
He has only given the book to one climatologist, Jochem Marotzke, the director of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg, to read prior to its publication. Marotzke's assessment is clear: Vahrenholt represents the standpoints of climate skeptics. "A number of the hypotheses in the book were refuted long ago," Marotzke claims, but adds, on a self-critical note, that his profession has neglected to explain that global temperatures will not increase uniformly. Instead, says Marotzke, there could also be phases of stagnation and even minor declines in temperature. "This has exposed us to potential criticism," he says.

Millionaire Investor Calls for Higher Taxes on the Rich
http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/d…Two great quotes in this article:
"People in the top 1 percent are paying historically low tax rates," he says. "That's simply an unsustainable way to run a capitalistic society."
"We are systematically destroying our customer base in this country by undercutting the middle class," he says. "If it was true that the rich and business were job creators, we'd be drowning in jobs today."

This is interesting. AG Martha Coakley
"The gains in Massachusetts residents with health insurance spurred a corresponding sharp decline in the amount of state spending on “free care” for the uninsured and underinsured. The costs of free care dropped from $709.5 million in fiscal year 2006 to $475 million in fiscal year 2010."

Ron Paul's Nevada Disappointment
"The end results for Ron Paul in Nevada were nearly heartbreakingly disappointing--third behind Gingrich with 18.7 percent, just 6,175 total votes in a very low turnout caucus vote, with more than 10,000 fewer GOP caucus goers than 2008. This was for a campaign and candidate that expected at the least a strong second and, if they continued their pattern of enormous state-by-state increases vs. their vote totals in 2008, maybe even win."
http://reason.com/blog/2012/02/0…
I'm actually surprised that Ron Paul didn't do better this year in all the contests. Considering the enthusiastic supporters he has along with the low turnout in general. I didn't think he would win, but at one point it looked like he might accumulate more delegates than Gingrich or Santorum.

Latin American leaders have joined together to condemn the U.S. government for soaring drug violence in their countries, blaming the United States for the transnational cartels that have grown rich and powerful smuggling dope north and guns south.
At a regional summit this month in Mexico, attended by the leaders of 11 Latin American and Caribbean countries, officials declared that “the authorities in consumer countries should explore all possible alternatives to eliminate exorbitant profits of criminals, including regulatory or market options.”
“Market options” is diplomatic code for decriminalization.
The complaints are not exactly new but are remarkable for being nearly unanimous. The critique comes from sitting presidents left to right, from persistent U.S. antagonists such as President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, and from close U.S. allies such as President Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia, which has received almost $9 billion in aid to fight the cartels.

Pew Study Points to Obama’s Growing Youth Problem
http://news.investors.com/Articl…Economy: President Obama surfed into office on a wave of support from the nation's youth. And what did those young voters get in return? Sky-high unemployment, lower wages, fewer prospects and a student debt crisis.
It's fair to say that just about everyone has suffered the ill effects of Obamanomics, which has produced growth rates during the 31-month "recovery" that are far below any in modern times.
But a new report out of the Pew Research Center shows that when it comes to economic pain, young workers trying to get a start in life have suffered the most. Among the grim statistics:
The unemployment rate among 18-to-24 year olds was 16.3% at the end of last year, compared with 8.8% for the rest of the working-age population. That gap in unemployment rates, the Pew study notes, is "the widest in recorded history."
Meanwhile, the share of this population that's managed to find work has fallen to 54.3% — the lowest level since 1948, the first year the government started collecting such data.
