Jeff Sessions spoke twice last year with Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Justice Department officials said, encounters he did not disclose when asked about possible contacts between members of President Trump’s campaign and representatives of Moscow during Sessions’s confirmation hearing to become attorney general.
- are there ever circumstances when it's okay to talk to the russian ambassador? I imagine someone talks to him, occasionallyGnash
- Sessions lied under oath.
So there's that.Ramanisky2 - I guess that's not encouragedGnash
- Gnash - Logan Act - "unauthorized citizens who negotiate with foreign governments having a dispute with the United States"fadein11
- Why else would anyone want/need to talk to the Russian ambassador?fadein11
- i'm not sure. I'm just assuming that they must have legit meetings every now an then with americansGnash
- it's not like they're isisGnash
- If relations were normal possibly but they are not.fadein11
- If there was a legit meeting happening it would never have been with Jeff fucking Sessions, it wouldn't have been secret and they wouldn't have lied.monospaced
- so you believe they were meeting about rigging the election?Gnash
- That's not the point - he broke a law and lied under oath - if that doesn't lead to resignation what a shit system you have.fadein11
- i thought that was the whole point. otherwise it wouldn't matter who he met withGnash
- He lied under oath - said he had no contact with Russia during the election. And he potentially broke a law in doing so. If he was rigging the election then offadein11
- course he's gotta go lolfadein11
- It might not have even been about rigging but about deals in place in the event of trump presidency aka rosneft $$$dorkKn1ght

This Russia stuff is getting very smelly indeed. Only way is to investigate by way of a congressional committee with people giving evidence under oath.

Trump's TV ratings for his first speech to Congress sunk way lower than Obama's
Let's watch "Don the Con" spin it, as the highest rated TV show of all time.

I wonder how much this new cosy relationship between Russia and the US has to do with weapons, and more specifically a weapons for oil program.
It would benefit US arms manufacturers greatly to be able to sell to the Russians who are involved in a couple of wars at the moment.
Just not 100% sure of if Russia uses American made arms or if they only use their own.- If so, why talk to the yet-to-be-appointed AG?monospaced
- Weapons manufacturing accounts for 20% of all Russian manufacturing, this line of thought is not logical.BuddhaHat
- They called it an arms race for a reason!BuddhaHat
- yeah but maybe It's too costly for the russians to manufacture their own these days, maybe it's easier to buy cheaper and more reliable weapons from the US_niko
- or at least parts and components. Russia takes Syrian oil, gives it to the US in exchange for arms, Russia gets to throw it's weight around on the world stage_niko
- 20% of their GDP is weapons - how could it be cheaper to buy American when you make your own at that scale?fadein11
- eliminating ISIS which is an enemy of America at the same time._niko
- I think the sanctions would be the main motivation. Lots of people stand to lose big money on either side.yuekit
- otherwise what's the benefit of these ties? Just to help Trump get elected? then what?_niko
- Yeah, it doesn't make sense, but sometimes things that we least expect are going on behind the scenes._niko
- I think it'd be the opposite - another arms race, gives both reasons to spend on military and brag. They just sold some of their new aircraft, too, so they expformed
- destabalisation, division etc. would be the reasons if any.fadein11
- The benefit, lift sanctions against Russia which are like a time bomb for their economy. Trump has even talked about it.yuekit
- "maybe It's too costly for the russians to manufacture their own these days, maybe it's easier to buy cheaper and more reliable weapons from the US" — No.detritus
- from wilki- Problems in the russian arms industry include a high level of debt, inflation and lack of qualified personnel._niko
- estimated 70,000 scientists and specialists from Russian defence institutes and military-industrial complex enterprises had left the country._niko
- And yet they're the second biggest arms exporters with a large through-line to China and India and a decent balance of cost vs. capability, unlike costly US tecdetritus
- yeah, not basing it on anything, and it doesn't make sense, just a feeling I get that something's amidst. Like Apple using Samsung parts even thought they're_niko
- ...bitter rivals. Car manufacturers do it all the time as well. Don't think it's a stretch when it comes to arm dealers and the whole industry of death._niko
- and not talking about anything major like planes and tanks, just components or ammo._niko

Try saying "President Oprah" out loud 3 times without laughing...
But this could go down...
Oprah plots 2020 presidential run??
“Have you ever thought that, given the popularity you have, we haven’t broken the glass ceiling yet for women, that you could actually run for president and actually be elected?” Rubenstein asked.
“I never considered the question even a possibility,” Oprah answered. “I thought, oh gee, I don’t have the experience, I don’t know enough. And now I am thinking: Oh.”
- Now she's thinking, "Oh, well if a reality star/con artist/Chester Cheetah Impersonator can be President, literally anyone can."kona
- Oprahs' experienced, she's interviewed so many important people.robotron3k
- Yeah it's funny...but then if you think about it there is really no difference vs. Trump at all. Both celebrity business people who got rich selling themselvesyuekit
- to middle America...even their net worth is similar.yuekit
- Try saying "President Trump" out loud 3 times without laughing..severian
- without cryingzaq
- robo, we know why you really think this is so ridiculous, and it's not what you want people knowing ... but nice to see you triggered over absolutely nothing.monospaced
- or are you so incredibly stupid that you fell for a click bait headline? holy shit, is the alt right all this idiotic and scared?monospaced
- robo is that stupid. watching the video it's a clear slight against Trump. What boggles my mind is robo cant see there's no difference between these two...kona
- hey mono... you commented on it... one might say you got a little triggered too :)PonyBoy
- both are reality tv stars. made lots of money. owned their own business. neither has any experience in politics or world economics, yet, robokona
- believes its comical saying "President Oprah" Which is fucking retarded because clearly it would be "President Winfrey" dumbass.kona
- Unless you think it's "President Donald"kona
- Oprah would sweep the floor in any electionmoldero
- I actually just enjoy the comedy of politics, you guys need to get out more often...robotron3k

- @dork - like Trump did? yeah, that's a great idea. *slap*BuddhaHat
- Its similar in the sense that they are TV personalities. I'm suggesting she get actual XP by running for state office first. Like Obama actually.dorkKn1ght
- Trump got his XP in the WWEdorkKn1ght

It's hard to fathom how a Benghazi committee was necessary & one for Russia isn't, unless one or both decisions were politically motivated.
