like lvl said, go with the lenses you have.. also, the 700 is full frame, so you'd need matching lenses.. if you've already bought digi lenses, go with the D300...
..also that new D90 looks good, and shoots HD video as well

in my opinion, the lower end canon dslr is a bit low quality in the build, image quality is kinda good. the opposite is true for nikon. when you get more high end, it's different. also nikon seems to be more expensive, probably why the build quality is better.

Some stores here will alllow you to rent the camera for a day and subtract the rental price from the product if you decide to buy it. I'd recommend trying this if you don't have much experience with either.
I've been a Nikon user for years but they really fell behind in the digital landscape. With the releases of their newer cameras they are finally competitive again.
