  but because a lot of you knew my situation, here goes. My mom died today after a long battle with cancer. In honour of her, this is the mom thread,

  i had a good time with my mom this weekend at our family reunion up in duluth. we played dominos and took some photos. nice and relaxing.

  i am so sorry tank. from the way you speak of her, it sounds like she was one of the most wonderful mothers.

  to share a random story... my mom taught me how to cook when i was leaving for college. that entire summer before i left, she'd ask me to help with cooking so i could learn. needless to say i never paid attention. but once in college, tired of eating shit food -- one day i called my mom and told her how i should've paid more attention when was she trying to teach me. that day she stayed on the phone with me telling me what to do while i cooked. for some reason it is one of my fondest memories from back in the day. years later, i am a fairly decent cook.

  My mom is battling cancer as well but fortunately it's in remission for now. I'm seeing her this weekend and looking forward to it...
