why dont you just stop paying for food all together?

I tip 15% on the pre-tax subtotal, but only on a bill significantly over $10 and only if the server earned it (keep coming over to clear plates, refill water, that sort of stuff). I'm not made of money.

I RARELY receive bad service.. Mostly because I live in a small enough city that wherever I go I know someone who owns / works at / or manages the restaurant / pub. It's handy.

base it on your service + food. don't not tip all the time, really, don't be that guy. if you don't want to have to tip, go to mcdonald's and wait in line for your food.
ass-hat.

I was a really big tipper, usually 20% and up....
no more, almost as stupid as getting a tattoo

cheap bitch
- tgqt0
nope...no more.
I no longer tip. period.

I give 20% or a little more. If I give 15% it's that I'm strapped for cash.

Don't go back to the same place twice.
You'll be pickin pubes out of your teeth.

Note that I can totally afford to tip, but I choose not to.

waitstaff: Do you need change? [as they pick up the check]
me: I sure do.

seems a silly thing to be so proud of.

Imagine if you worked for tips as a designer. Would it be okay that the owner of your firm pays you an unlivable wage and you were making tips from the clients?
- ok, but design takes a little more education than being a waitress.doesnotexist
- some of the best designers I have worked with could not wait tables. This is an unfair comparison
