I feel like the colors and layout fit your work a bit better. It does exactly what you need it to do, look forward to seeing it functional.

Much much better pascii, have you tried it in a dark gray?

Way better, clearer and immediate.
the left hand nav need more hierarchy (a thing that the right-hand side box has) and i'd play a bit with the highlighted status (what about extending the highlight box to the left margin?)
Other than that i'd try a dark warm grey as a bg.
But now is a proper folio.
- i'll work on that navi. it still doesn't do it for me either..

I would agree. Then use greys and whites for your type, reduce the size of your logo by half, have it in white, and tighten up your menus.

My honest answer is I like the GOLDEN colors that you posted and I don't mind brown atall, as for the pascii text I would have it as one o the hues of brown and lower the opacity quite allot, same with the wee alien froggy guy in the top right, I also don't like the new underscores you have, I much prefer the old way, with a box round the button, have this as a lower opacity box as well, or don't do any of these things and simply have a wee cigarette a beer and look out the window and realise that humans were only really meant to sit on a tree stump and watch maize grow.

lose the guy in the top corner. i like the golden one too. try your logo in a darker tone rather than lighter. i think it'll look pretty slick then.

I quite like the golden too, though I think the warm grey brings the colours in the work out more (a client would say they seemed more "zingy")
I like this now, but I do think you should look at the detailing of the menu, its a bit sparse at the moment. It either needs to be set with a finer consideration (line height etc) or given extra elements graphically imo.
gettin there! :)
