I say NO. I think they are cheesey shite.
When I first moved to London Talking Loud used to put on a night at the Fridge in Brixton which is now exclusively a gay club I think. All the Talking Loud roster would play live sets. They had just signed Jamiroquoi as an unheard of band.
I tell you what they were a different kettle of fish before they had chart success. They were fucking AWWWEEESSSOOOMMMEEE and JayKay's dance moves were incredible to see... he just seemed to glide above the ground. The queues to get in to talking Loud when they were on were miles and mile slong... this is before they were famous so all entirely based on how great they were as a live act.
Soon as they got leased to a major and hit the charts they went the way of the Simply Red.
I have an anecdote for every subject.

Well I have a lot of respect for Jamiroquai, I know his life has descended into a bit of a celebrity farce of late, but for me (aged 15) 'Emergency on Planet Earth' was the first album to really open my ears to jazz funk, it helped me scratch below the surface, and if it wasn't for Jamiroquai then I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have discovered at such an early age, during the important formative years...
Stevie Wonder
Dexter Wansel
Idris Muhammad
Tower of Power
Donald Byrd
Pleasure
Chic...but seriously he created such a great sound, at at time where there was nothing much to talk about in pop music, and dare I say it will still be relevant in 10—15 years time, well certainly his early work.
