    Well I have a lot of respect for Jamiroquai, I know his life has descended into a bit of a celebrity farce of late, but for me (aged 15) 'Emergency on Planet Earth' was the first album to really open my ears to jazz funk, it helped me scratch below the surface, and if it wasn't for Jamiroquai then I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have discovered at such an early age, during the important formative years...

    Tower of Power
    Donald Byrd
    Pleasure
    Chic

    ...but seriously he created such a great sound, at at time where there was nothing much to talk about in pop music, and dare I say it will still be relevant in 10—15 years time, well certainly his early work.
