I mean it crashed all the time, and OS X has all this better functionality and everything, but I miss those nice clean fast little windows, no frills, no genie effects and big shiny things. . .
    those were the days

OS9 was a horrible system, caused nearly the end of Apple,
    your just being nostalgic...

    • But, you have a point with all the stupid shine gimmicks...tank021/3
      what are you talking about????
OS9?? dude, that was the best OS back in the day.. 100 better than windows
      Meeklo2/3
Everything is better than windows. Apple itself admits the OS9 was crap...tank023/3

Yes os9 never ever crashed on me and I used to hammer out edits on avid in it for hours and hours and hours, the system would be rock solid, unlike today when I use final cut and it decides to quit half way through doing something and etc. etc., when osx cam eout I thought and still think it looks like a kids toy, although it probably is an amazing operating system it still sucks.

    • You cannot make an argument that OS9 was more stable.CyBrain

    The dark days of Apple.

    • Apple was for us then though. Gil Amelio was running a specialist machine company, not a lifestyle brand.Spookytim1/2

I prefer command line Operating Systems...there is no need for a GUI.

Did anyone ever work on Illustrator 3? where you had to switch to keyline mode to work, then switch back to 'preview' to see what you'd done. Fantastic.

    • yup.. we used to get in shit at school for using gradients because they locked up machines while rendering the preview.horton

    Speaking of command line,
Photoshop CL (Command Line) is the best:
    I'm all like:

    c:\photoshop\> start magic wand
    c:\photoshop\> select object perimeter "square"
    c:\photoshop\> end magic wand
    c:\photoshop\> fill selection "#CCCCCC"
c:\photoshop\> save for web "square; qaulity:60"
