Me: "Well listen, its perfect because I used Daniel Eatock's favorite typeface here"
Client: "Who?"
Me: "Daniel Eatock"- unfortunate last nameJaline
- His left-hand navigation concept interests me but it's not exciting. Good for him though. Lots of people use it.Jaline
- interests me = how many people follow his work.
excites me = doesn't hold my attentionJaline - in case someone thought "interesting" also meant "exciting"Jaline
- i do like these little chats jaline.skt

Is there an index / appendix of all the typefaces used?"yeah, is there? i'll still buy it, but I would hope there was one.

Is it just a bunch of pages with "____'s current favorite typefaces" on each spread? This doesn't seem very interesting to me. Great cause, though.
Unless each copy comes with a disk of the shown typefaces which are donated for free after the cost of the book. This would be a win, possibly an epic one depending on the particular typefaces. Otherwise, meh.

The charity element is the only good thing about that and as pointed out I'd rather just donate, sorry just sick to death of these vapid projects, designers favourite typefaces, I mean come on!!!
I promised myself I wouldn't get carried away after the Vormgevers thread, as I based a lot on assumption, and after an epic explanation from Blam (which he didn't need to do, granted) I realised I was a bit unreasonable, and decided to just keep my opinions however strong they may be to myself, but I'm sorry this is awful...

Nice to donate to charity but a really really weak book/concept

its a trend that's been around for some time now and while some of these "designer invitation/collaboration" projects are reasonably interesting, many of them including this one aren't and just seem like a 'quik-n-easy' project to do... which invariably will get some attention..

Don't get me wrong the idea of giving to charity on it's own, is something I don't think to do in my day to day (which is bad on my part) so the idea of creating something of substance that I would get in exchange (rewarded for my kind charity!) is a good idea and would encourage people who (like me) don't normally do my bit!
but this is hardly of any substance, I mean when you have the opportunity to create a book (for a £3 cover price) you have a real opportunity to create something special, not something that panders to graphic culture and relies/survives ONLY on the 50 so called design celebrity endorsements...I know I sound cynical, and it's charity and yadda yadda yadda, but I just feel it to a wasted opportunity, to design something good!

All you haters make me sick. Instead of complaining that this isn't good enough, do something. Do something better. Show us your magnificent talent to raise money for charity. Until then shut up.

- I do a lot for charity, but that isn't what gives me the rite to say whatever the hell I want about this, haha.flavorful
- Or anyone else for that matter ... including yourself. :Dflavorful
- I don't think the creator of the book has used their talent though that's what I'm saying...uncle_helv
- ...I wish I had the time and money to explore such I project Soler!uncle_helv
- I've donated before too. Just donate! Or do whatever you want. Who cares.Jaline

I dont any problems with it. It only costs £3 ( a pint of beer costs more, so does a copy of Readers Wives) and is just another alternative to asking some decent designers/agencies about typefaces instead of asking the usual suspects on QBN. I havent seen it in the flesh but it could act as a quick reference for someone who hasn't go the time to trawl through the thousands of thrashy fonts on their system/cds etc. It could be interesting to see how often these designers/agencies use these fonts in their projects.

I think the creators have the time and money to produce this then great. I'd much rather get a copy of this than give someone on the street £3 for a charity.
I agree it could be alot nicer, even sticking within time/printing budgets. But still its for charity and its 5% cool.
