Wait five days and check again. I had this happen and was told by a friend (who owns a domain registration business) that they put a hold on the domain. If it's not purchased during the next week it's made available again.

it is bullshit a private company can squat on searched sites. especially when they pretend to be helping you.
boycott network solutions.

a buddy of mine had Network Solutions snatch up a domain he had searched for. He called them up, bitched them out and demanded that they release it....they did, and he bought the domain thru someone else.

never use the godaddy or any other search for domains. just try to type in the domain in the url bar thing and see if it's a webpage.

I thought there was a law against do this with Domain Names.

Happened to me on instantdomainsearch.com, but never on godaddy and I got there some domains that would seem too sweet for them not to snach before me.

why dont we post a random , silly named domian on qbn and then everyone has to search for that the entire day so it really pushes up the price . stuff like cockinyourear.com
- +1 for everyone contributing to putting in random urls23kon

surely a script could be written to randomly enter url's to their search facility on their site to bombard them with searches and they go out and buy them all. if the buying is all automated too then they might not realise all these sites are being bought.

saw this happen to a buddy. they wanted $1,800 for the name next day.

if it is automatic just search for godadddyareabunchofsnakes.com see if they register that :)

fuck that! Does this really happen. Goddamn thief's.

Yes, this has happen to many people that I know in recent months. There was actually an article I read about this practice as well.
I use domainordering.com to search for domains, they do not share search inquires with any other providers, particulary godaddy or network solutions.

I dont check if names are free until I'm about to register, and just register everything I want if it is available. Has happened to me before on another provider, I told them to keep the domains.

Don't do a search...do a whois from your command line. :p
