Network Solutions is still stealing searched domains. I checked on cellar-6.com at 3pm along with 5 versions.

I just checked and Network Solutions snaked all of them. How the hell do companies this large get away with this shit for so long.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Seems counterproductive. How many people will really turn around and pay the $800 or so that they'll ask for it?
- TREBIO0
they charge $35. still it is so wrong.

I don't get it, are Network Solutions and GoDaddy working together? How do they know that you looked at the name? Either way, it's pretty lame.

Don't do a search...do a whois from your command line. :p

I dont check if names are free until I'm about to register, and just register everything I want if it is available. Has happened to me before on another provider, I told them to keep the domains.

Yes, this has happen to many people that I know in recent months. There was actually an article I read about this practice as well.
I use domainordering.com to search for domains, they do not share search inquires with any other providers, particulary godaddy or network solutions.

fuck that! Does this really happen. Goddamn thief's.

if it is automatic just search for godadddyareabunchofsnakes.com see if they register that :)

saw this happen to a buddy. they wanted $1,800 for the name next day.

surely a script could be written to randomly enter url's to their search facility on their site to bombard them with searches and they go out and buy them all. if the buying is all automated too then they might not realise all these sites are being bought.

why dont we post a random , silly named domian on qbn and then everyone has to search for that the entire day so it really pushes up the price . stuff like cockinyourear.com
- +1 for everyone contributing to putting in random urls23kon

Happened to me on instantdomainsearch.com, but never on godaddy and I got there some domains that would seem too sweet for them not to snach before me.

I thought there was a law against do this with Domain Names.

never use the godaddy or any other search for domains. just try to type in the domain in the url bar thing and see if it's a webpage.
