to be honest mate............ i think fiat have ripped u
but it dont matter because they've made a right fuck up of it. yours is way better.u should send them your original idea along with your complaint, and the URL to this conversation. end of the day like skt says u cant own the idea but it is bad business etiquette.

Your kidding all of us right? They look nothing a like!

I worked as a creative on the Fiat ad account for a couple of years. I can give you the email of the head of marketing in the UK or Italy if you want to point something out.
Mail me.

On the bright side, you've served to inspire. Not everyone can say that.
Interesting animated favicon on that Fiat site. Here's to hoping clients never get wind of that trickery.

im going to oppose the trend here about which is better, 000000's original is more like a draft, static and lo-fi, and seriously couldnt be used by Fiat as it was in itself, and this is basically what happened, they built upon it to make a more presentable site

they certainly looked to your site for inspiration.
pat yourself on the back as immitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Other then a bj of course.

what we learn: never ever submit work to a big company design-contest!
(something similar happen to me)
- clearThoughts0
They totally ripped you off.
But why did you submit your site in the first place?I don't understand why people still submit their ideas to heavily branded brain washing contests.
- slappy0
the ad totally rips... I like your concept better, what they have ended up with looks rubbish.
- Amen0
give it as an inspriration...

to answer your original question; yes i'd email the dude with a "wtf?!"
but i gotta ask, why on earth would you enter a website design contest, for a large company?
bah. design contests are a joke and piss me off. wish we could all agree on that.
- drgs0
who won the contest btw
- sherm0
wow. clearly their work is derived from yours. Read the rules of these contests, seems like they farm work out and in turn become "inspired".
Sad though, I'm sure they would have paid you nicely to do it. But through the use of the "contest" they get free ideas.
Who won this "contest"?

I think they definitely ripped you. Especially when you mouse over to the right and the cars are sitting there on the grass. Too similar.

ok, to end this story,
I sent an email to the project manager (which strangely is the same I was suppose to meet for a job interview), and he told one of my coworker (the world of Italian web design is smaller than I though) that he didn't understand who I was because I wrote the mail in english and he doesn't understands it...end of the story
- hhaha, so the end of story is; he doesn't understand English? LOL.Jnr_Madison

yeah, they did rip your design. the starburst, the lawn, the fifties-look vnitage people, the treeline in the background - it's definitely yours.
but you can't do anything about it.
- dskz0
yes. congratulations.
- slappy0
Right so rather than asking if you spoke Italian they just ripped your work?
