I have the new mesh aeron - and it does not diffuse farts.

I like how the aeron diffuses farts

Definately overrated. More a fashion statement than anything.

Dunno how new this model from Herman Miller is, but TecheBlog just posted this:

2cents- you need to look at in context. That chair came out in 1994. Prior to that, all that existed was foam chairs that created dead zones in your 'sit regions' that you would often bottom out on and feel the seat frame. It remade the way designers looked at convention, across all fields, not just seating.
- True, true. I think I need to fiddle with the adjustments more and get a foot stool to go with it.2cents

Actually, data shows that these chairs were the best investment most DotCom's ever made. After their stock's hit 0, their computers were worth 0 due to depreciated technology, the only thing they could recoup their lost capital on was their fleet of Aeron chairs.

you could get those hm chairs for a song after the dotcom bust. i got a whole cube and converted it into a vocal booth and it came with a desk and chair as a bonus.

- You must work for my old employer. Just chew the shit out of the arms and cover it in stains and you're there!2cents

They're great for ripping ass. When you sit on a chair that has a cushion for a seat, the seat ends up smelling something horrible. The mesh just lets them float away into the the ether...then you can fan them towards your coworkers.

they are comfortable but it won't make the sitter a better designer.
they are great for practical jokes!

I like to bend down on my knees and pretend I'm a midget working away.
- This made the whole thread worth reading. Thank you lolismith

I don't question that it's well made, that's a given. For me personally I just don't find it comfortable. If I had bought this chair myself (mine is office use) I would be very disappointed.
Hence, I fail to see all the hype around this chair and why it's such a "must have " item.
Maybe it's just my body type isn't built for it, maybe I need to lay off the lattes.
- 2cents, do you not have the correct size for you? you know there's 3 right?sublocked

seems a lot of comments come down to $$.
questIon:
How much did you guys pay for those sneaker pimp shoes and those stupid skinny jeans that don't cover your ass that are going to be at Goodwill in 8 months?A well made, well designed chair will last you 10 yrs minimum.

I sit on an Aeron, but then so does everyone else in my office.
I don't mind it, because I didn't have to pay for it.
We used to have the Mirra, but those had an awful plastic hard backing and the arms were disproportionate. Kept banging into the desk.

ok Mr. Fancy Pants Horton-
One of the primary features of this chair was that it was designed for an "active seating position." This means that there is a forward tilt lock that you can engage (see manual) that will make it seem as though the chair is tilting forward (because it does). By doing this, your lumbar is put into the nature curve that most of us negate while in the "mouse crouch." But this also relies on you having the core strength to sit upright like that all day, which most graphic geeks don't have.
The other most important thing is that you bought the right size chair for your body. If you're in a chair that is too small, then the length of your femurs aren't going to be long enough to exceed the front of the chair. And if only one of your legs is numb (as your posts states), then you might have a)far too much of a pimp going on in your posture - try to sit on both ass cheeks or b)circulation issues in that one leg- just a guess. You might also try sitting on a giant Swiss ball for awhile.
