yeah it's good but I've heard his voice stronger. I think he struggles with some of the falsetto stuff - check out 'dirt in the ground' against the original - but when he's on form his voice is so powerful.

Waits for who?

Nice one moth, enjoy. This will be my 3rd time. Being a Tom Waits fan is an expensive hobby that's for sure.

And it's a small venue.
Leonard Cohen is playing the O2.

He was great in "Short Cuts" and good in Jarmusch flicks as well, but no way I'm paying this money to see him.
Lesser amount stopped me from going to get Prince tickets and that's probably the best gig I'm about to miss bar King Crimson in Prague some 11 years ago.
Some of the material Waits released was too Leonard Cohen for me to stand, let alone pay to listen to.- still, the man is rock'n'roll even if he sang new kids on the block covers to be fairrafalski

I saw Tom Waits a couple of times back in the 1970s. Back then his shows cost about $6 (the equivalent of 11 cents today), and he was trying to make a name for himself. He tried hard. He even had a streetlamp on stage that he used to lean against on some numbers, to give things just the right feeling.
But you know what? He was a shitty singer back then, and he's gotten worse. He was a good songwriter back then, but now he just writes nonsense. He used to always perform drunk, but he quit drinking a few years ago, and it made him more erratic and peculiar.
I sat behind him a few years ago at an Eddie Izzard show, and honestly, the guy has a head like a sack of potatoes, and he smells like a barnyard.
So, save your money, and give it a pass. He'll only break your heart with his squandered talent.
- So can you recommend a reasonable joint to stay in then? ;)JerseyRaindog

100+ quid... fuck that shit ... well maybe if it was Scarlett doing the covers I would consider ...

Woohoo! I've got a ticket to see him in Paris on the 24th July. Can anyone recommend a reasonable joint to stay in?

saw him last year (or maybe 2 years ago). was an unforgettable show. probably doesn't even need to be said.

And I'm thinking Dublin. Fuck Edinburgh ;)
- moth0
The price is rude.
I'd only pay it for him.

I don't wanna gripe cos I'd love to see him live but three shows in Dublin are in an all-seated marquee in the Phoenix Park (to be called The Ratcellar). Tickets will be €116.25 and €131.25
1. I was in one of those marquees in the park for Arcade Fire, and it was shit and even though Im sure this one will be smaller, I hate marquees.
2. But pricey I think. There are lots of places he coulda played over here that would have really suited his style, but no.
Disappointed now :(

£95?
Well. All my friends who want tickets can fucking get them themselves!- They'll have to. Tickets limited to 2 per person - lots of security to prevent scalpers/touts.JerseyRaindog
