- Nice. Not sure about TN, but nice space. What's the cost?formed
- About 7% of our gross
You don't need to be sure about tn, it wasn't an invite ;-)
We moved here in 2006 from nz and have liked it enough to stay so farbjladams - Come by tonight, digitdaily- we've got an exhibition opening.bjladams
- Don't worry, I won't be coming ;-) As gorgeous as TN is, I don't think I could handle the politics. Nice, ambiguous answer on the cost too :-)formed

My wife and I are getting ready to sell our condo and buy a house this summer. Selfishly, a space that's just mine for playing guitar and recording and listening to records is a massive necessity. I really can't wait to find the perfect place and actually have all my amps and music equipment set up.
- lvl_130
Nice^
Good luck finding your perfect place. It's got to be hard to find something that checks all the boxes. How far are you willing to move outside of the city?My wife and I are still trying to figure out what state we want to end up in! West coast would be nice...but costs make me think that going back to the Midwest would be best.

^ lvl_13 - we're probably going about 8-10 miles north actually, but it seems like a world away. We live a mile south of Wrigley Field, and a mile from the lake. It's been a great area - I've been here for 9 years, and we've been in our condo for 6, but with a daughter that's 16 months old, it's time to start thinking about longer term, good schools, less crime, something where we will hopefully be happy for 25-30 years. I'm looking forward to it, it will be an adjustment especially if we don't have easy public transportation and I'm driving more.
But as far as a workspace, I really can't wait to have room for all my stuff in a basement. And I'm never calling it a man cave. It will be a gentlemen's lair. LOL.

Anybody recommend good proper loud as food speakers for the studio?
- Personally, I would go for a set of the Audioengine A5 speakers with an A8 subwoofer (all active/powered).monospaced

- very very nice. i just reno gutted my house basement and am prepping a new studio space (old bedroom) and am do the same sliding door ideaprophetone
- was thinking maybe make it out of glued together parallam to see all the layers top to bottom, or rusted steel with big rivets or somethingprophetone
- The barn door is two sheets of 1/2" MDF glued together and painted. I had the graphic printed on adhesive vinyl.noneck
- If you're doing a barn door, make sure you have some really crazy backing to attach the rails to. Lots of stress there, so it'll rip shit out of place easily.noneck
- FFS is that snow outside?utopian
- i plan on putting 2x8 between framing alone top to lag body into, they'll also be attached to ceiling joists, should be able to hang any door weightprophetone
- *along top to lag bolt into (geez autocorrect)prophetone
- Lol, considering a rusty doorterry_cloth
- yessss smarty pants, force a rust finish then coat it to seal it from yucky rust fingersprophetone
- @utopian Yes, a bit of snow. Usually there's more by this time of year.noneck
- @prophetone The builder had to come back and rebuild part of that wall because the backing had split in two and the hardware was a bit loose.noneck
- home office?Bennn
- I find it so weird that i live in NYC and earn a really good amount of money but spending an extortionate amount on rent means I'll probably never have thisDaveO
- @Benn Yes. Working from home is pretty nice sometimes.noneck
