cmyk overlay gradient

this is sort of a tough question, but here it goes anyway.
I've got some white-to-transparent gradients that sit on top of a large field of color. Those gradients are set to 'Overlay' in the Transparency palette to give a glowing/lightening effect.
If I rely on the transparent overlay effect to achieve this, will I have problems printing in CMYK?
I could rebuild the files choosing process pantones to imitate the overlay effect but that is going to take forever.
what say you?

The more complicated your effect the bigger chance it will blow up on press.
I would suggest a couple of things.
1. Do LOTS of proofs. When you get a proof you like include it with your delivery to the printer and basically say "how do we match that?". If he/she is good you'll have some options presented to you.
2. In order to avoid transparency/layer effect issues make sure to flatten the psd that will end up as part of the print folder (keeping your original separate or course). Are you using Indesign to house the psd or are you just sending the psd off to print?

Hold on - are you talking Vector or Bitmap here?
If it's the latter, just flatten the fucker and send it out as a high res bitmap.

Sorry, in fact - I had a job like this a month or so ago, where I had quite an overly-complicated vector file - so I flattened all the complicated background.imagery bits into a bitmap, then stuck them back into an Illy files, with the foreground text and simple shapes kept as vectors.
- Just to clarify, seeing as I'm confusing myself - I just used the Rasterize function in Illy on the offending layer groups.detritus
