I have a 5-8 minute walk to the subway station, and on a good day 15-20 minute ride downtown, total distance of about 3.75 miles.
Return time is about the same.
I can also pretty much take a bus door-to-door, but that can take about 35 - 45 minutes in morning or evening.

35 minute car ride to train station
40 minute ride on the GO train
15 minute ride ttc subway
10 minute walk to office
10-15 added for waiting for transit, and or train delays etc.Have been doing this for 2 years. Moving closer to work in May, to reduce this commute.
Total transit bill per month: $400 give or take.
