since i talk so much shit in this place i decided to at least try to make a smart contribution once a week... at first when they showed me this i didn't want to pay attetion... but when i did it totaaly blew my mind... please if you consider yourself at least a bit thoughtfull check it out... specially for those of you that have children that grow up to be people like us =/

he has a good point but i wish he offered more of a solution. i wonder how he would propose to change the system. how do you find out what kids are good at/passionate about when they are 4-5 to put them on ideal education path. and what happens to the kids who are talented in an area they are not interested in?

I had an an argument with my Mother at the weekend over Nature vs Nurture. This came about because I took my baby daughter round to visit her and was bragging about her latest achievement (waving hello). My mother believes that we are all born with our skills,intelligence mapped out for us, stupid kids are born stupid and vice'a'versa. I believe the exact opposite. As the speaker points out - a new slant on this is that we are born with these skills/creative drives but they can - if we are not careful - be slowly drummed out of us.
