Does the touch now do EVERTHING that the phone does other than accept calls??

no the touch can't figure out it's position based on cell towers like the phone can

I'm thinking of getting a Touch. Anyone have anything to deter me from doing this? I don't want an iPhone yet, not until it has more storage and the tariffs come down a bit. 32GB seem like a decent amount on the touch though

i like mine but the battery died already :(

Can you use the Touch as an external drive yet as you can with the Classic?

vwsung18t... is the battery detachable or encased? ie can you get another one and clip it in or does it have to go back to get it changed?
I'd like a touch but I'm a very wary apple customer these days so your answer will determine my consumer choices!

it doesn't have the volume +/- button and since the clickwheel is gone setting volume is not the best solution you've seen on an mp3 player.
No speaker, no mic (useful, I recorded a conversation with a noise-polluting neighbour yesterday with my iphone where he admitted he'd been doing it on purpose)

it's encased. you can send it back to get it changed or do it yourself. there are lots of battery replacement kits and walkthroughs on replacement out there.

i've got one and i really like it.
safari works great, and having mail on it is awesome. the keyboard is pretty quick to type with so sending (short) emails is pretty easy and quick.
music playback is possibly it's weakest point, but only in so much as to change volume/forward/rewind etc you need to take it out of your pocket, push a button, and wipe your finger across it to unlock it – with my old 4th gen you could do that from within your pocket (if you see what i mean)... hardly a gripe, but if you've got your hands full it's a bit of a pain in the arse...

I want the iPod Rub, with the built-in massage device.
