couple passing thoughts since you ask:
- as deitrus said, "FIT 02/01/2008" isn't calling me in.. too many other dated FMTs etc... and i'm sure many illustrators scanning the PVN don't even click to read this.
- i don't know about other users, but my work weeks are unpredictable and as much as i like the idea, 7 days to squeeze in an illustration session isn't always going to happen. last thing i need in my life is another project brief and 1 week deadline.
- how about a "QBN Illy of the Month: February"... or something a little less formal and more fun.
- k also.. and this might be a little too critical... but sorry, the topic was kind of a cerebral snore and the brief made me feel like i was in a first year art class again. QBN folk are a sarcastic and witty breed. motivating with a wide open topic might be tough. a more literal or current topic might stir up some interest. or maybe topic plus a linked inspiration/reference image might make it easier for some to quickly get started.

Here are my thoughts.
The topic was just fine. It was open enough for the individual to do with as they pleased.
The deadline was fine. You either had time this week or you didn't. No big deal. Don't think longer deadlines equal more participants. The people that want to do it will. The people that kinda want to do it will want until the deadline arrives and think, "oh, well. not enough time now." Historically, the follow-through around here sucks.
Thanks, neverblink, for the inspiration. Unfortunately, I think I'm just going to follow the Illustration Friday project. Aside from it being consistent and well-participated, the main reason is that my son loves to draw and he took part in this exercise. QBN being a creative professional, not family-oriented, environment, it isn't really appropriate to post a seven-year-old's drawing here. I.F., however, would be just fine for that. Thanks, again.

By the way, is there a new brief for this week? or did it fall off the internet completely with a bad case of apathy?
looks to be enough responses to warrant another go?

You can open new topic Spooky.. Maybe not call it F.I.T. but something along this setup? Illustr.#2: theme
Maybe 'timetravel' would be a nice -current- theme? Or do a simple theme that anyone can do, like 'pirates' ;)
- Studiospooky0
Okay, I propose the following as the next brief...
"Sauce"
Just that. Open to interpretation.
Eyes Right?
Nose left?- Should we start a new thread for the new theme?Complexfruit
- Studiospooky0
Bump.
This thread really does seem to be in need of either a life support system, or a dignified death.

Ok, I completely suck at drawing at this point in time. But I'm posting this crap below only as part of this week's theme "So, that's how it started".......What started? Me trying to learn how to draw again......I was into it for a while, then got caught up in other stuff......Hopefully the poor quality of this will encourage me to put more time into this particular creative venture.......like hopefully 6 months from now, I'll post some amazing drawing and be able to look at this and say........"ya, thats how it started"......(It's a Jawa from SW, if you're not nerdy enough to know BTW).

man, sorry i didn't post anything up on friday. i just didn't have time last week. my job is kind of an energy vampire, and last week sucked worse than usual.
- 12xu0
Nice illo neverblink. I like your enthusiasm. I started sketching... now I gotta figure out how to make it match the theme.
*starts fingering hole in head
- Studiospooky0
Actually that goes for me too. Not for lack of wanting to be a part of it though.
_ Complexfruit... yes, shall I just go ahead and do that then? I thought I'd give people a chance to say if they approved the brief or not. Wait, what's this?

was gonna do something but just couldn't find time to do it. had a busy week (and felt a bit lazy too) will try to post on the next one
- neverblink0
Thnx. Backwards conceptualizing eh? hehe, that's pretty much what happened with mine as well.. well actually I started out with the idea of someone recieving an order from japanesebugfights.com / but thought the DIY-b.s. was a better approach ;)
- Complexfruit0
@Studiospooky
I've skimmed through the posts, and others have made suggestions on how the format and naming should go. I think you or neverblink should post the newest theme.

- **IMPORTANT UPDATE**
k, I cheated a bit and added in a photo cloud texture in PS.detritus - btw, it's supposed to be our sun's transformation into a red dwarf. I'm a geek, see?detritus
- It was either that, or a visualisation of the split from math into energy, before the big bang. Latter too hard tho.detritus
- Nice.Studiospooky
- did you have the moon texture handy or was that a new draw just for this? impressive!GreedoLives
- i added the moon texture in after the clouds - should've mentioned. Did the shading in 3ds max. Was bored yesterday.detritus
- oh, no - the moon's not a vector - just a nasa shot, brought in via photoshop. I cheat, i could never vector that well!detritus

Sorry Complexfruit... must confess I have only skipped through this thread so maybe I've missed the hit and jumped the gun. Apologies if I have everbody.
By the way, checked out your site. Very nice work.- I just wanted to keep this going, but didn't feel I had the authority to make moves. Thanks Studiospooky.Complexfruit

and here's to hoping this goes better than the now infamous blackbook series:
