And before anyone says anything, I haven't looked at the kerning and I am very low on fonts. very low.

Ah the old 'traditional yet contemporary' look, meaning they're not sure what they want!
Me likes no. 4 and 5 and I like the idea of no.2 just think the mark needs more refinement.

In 2, 2b and 3 the lettering doesn't work at all, too confused.
1 has a good balance, but the scribble doesn't look nothing more than a scribble
the 3 Could be ok, but the Logo is something seen millions of time and i don't see any link between that and the company.

i like #4
maybe without the black shape though?

that shape in 5 is stellar, i really dig it. the type on it looks too homespun though. keep pluggin away!

the mark on 4 looks pretty nice, try it alone in black without the bar?

4 has potential the letters need to be refined more - a bit confusing at first glance,

I like the idea of #4, but not the execution.
1. Ditch the black shape.
2. Bring back more of the "T"—I wouldn't recognize it without the name below. Move the "V" to the left. I would recommend using a bold, contrasty version of Helvetica or Caslon instead of what you're currently using.
3. Increase the size of the mark.
4. Use either Helvetica Neue 75 or 45 for the logotype. Univers would also work well, as would Trade Gothic or Franklin Gothic.
- #2, I meant "...contrasty version of BODONI or Caslon..." :/gramme
- Thanks, gramme.
All points taken on board.Concrete - #4 looks too fashiony to me.doesnotexist

You might also look at Gotham for the logotype. Gotham looks nice with Bodoni or Caslon. Not to mention, it feels contemporary yet classic at the same time. Good luck!

or avant garde and modern 271... with the words/letters you have, avant garde would be nice... thankfully, no 's's....
- ohh, but AG's ampersand is rubbish, you could prob get away with using the helv ampersand tho...neue75_bold
- modern 216 btw...neue75_bold
- neue75_bold0
also, try some without the iconography... from what you said, a purely type version would be nice...

Serious answer: I like the one bottom right but its a bit BP int it. For some reason the old Olivetti work (was it Paul Rand? Raymond Loewy? Wim Crouwel?... my old design brain lets me down) where different silhouettes are embedded within each other.
Stupid answer: I like the one up from row three, six across to the left, then down a column, then left two paces... and... the one opposite that, but on the other side of the paper.
French Answer: "is easy wis robochef"
- Forgot to end my sentence...Studiospooky
- are embedded within each other... SPRINGS TO MIND AS AN IDEA FOR THIS.Studiospooky
- Can we get an interpretor for this?

Yup, the mark in 5 is working for me, though the text weight and style is a little pansy. I want to like 4, but I think the V&A compression is taken a little too far, so it's a bit inscrutable.
2 might be nice if it had a different font, the crown was a touch more defined and it filled the circle a bit more, and the text was centred, like in 3.
Is it 'VillageTown & Country' or 'Village, Town & Country'? It should be the latter, and more should be made of the punctuation.

A few ideas (not necesarily good):
Have you tried stacking the type smaller to larger (in reference to dancers suggestion.)
Also the italic ampersand in minion pro (and many others) can be a combination of v,t,c
