Other than The Pantry, does anyone know of any good breakfast places?

Downtown LA kinda sucks
IMO

Well, whether it sucks or not, I work down there and need a place to eat in the morning!

I got ya.
How is it working down there?
Is it as bad as it looks?

I love working Downtown. I'm thankfully on the east side where its a bit grittier that the suit-laden west. Eating is another story, however; it's quite bleak. Despite all of the press about the area being gentrified, Downtown has quite a ways to go.
And I'm not convinced that gentrification will make or break the place.

a place called the city diner on 6th and central. cliftons on broadway, brite spot just across the 101 next to echo park. I worked down there for a few years, I think breakfast is a little limited compared to the thousands of places for lunch or dinner.

do they have Starbucks in LA?
- Starbucks all over the place, but I really need a place where I can sit down and eat with friends before work. Then again, I suppose you could do that at Starbucks.Roshambo
- LOL
sorry, guess my sarcasm wasn't laid on thick enough?
;)madirish - Aw, man, there's nothing worse than misinterpreting someone's sarcasm...Roshambo

Much appreciated, fortified! I didn't realize Clifton's was open for breakfast. The Brite spot is a bit far for me (but indeed a great place), but I will definitely check out the city Diner.

I heard the Regal Beagle in Santa Monica is great.

wow, i never thought that the 2nd largest city in this US and A had so few places to eat! alternatives: eat at home? make a small eating area where you work? eat at someone else's house? or create some sort of rotation system of eating at your friends' places at different days of the week? hey you can even create a little club where you can get together every morning at each others houses and cok and eat breakfast together! yey!

Roscos Chicken and Waffles.
I waited an hour to get in on one Sunday morning and it was damn worth it! The waffles are awesome. Don't know what's in them... but taste great!

the standard has great breakfast in their cafe...open 24 hours too!

Guys, guys, I'm talking about Downtown LA here, not the entire (giant) city of Los Angeles. Like, walking distance from 8th and Broadway. Santa Monica and Roscoe's are both way, way too far.
- So, you're taking the Regal Beagle seriously then?arthur
- I heard Jack's Bistro has great frittatas.mrdobolina
- Regal Beagle? No idea what you're talking about, sir.Roshambo
- back in the 1850's there was a tv show called Three's Company"...mrdobolina
- I don't--and have never--really watched TV.Roshambo
