Im using a 20d but seriously need/want to upgrade.

I recommend a Nikon D40. I have a 30D and after playing with a Nikon D40 for a week, I am a convert.

Didn't we just go thru this on another thread? Go for a Phase One on a Hassy Body! Buck wild fo the new year!
..but fo real.. how much are you willing to spend? check the filter for the other thread that had a bunch of really good points about several cameras.. and happy new year!

been using my D80 for a year but love to get the D300. it's probably not a good idea for me now. maybe in a few years, I'll upgrade. hopefully, they'll have the D400 by then or maybe get the D3.

I got the d300 recently, and love it. I would love the low light capabilities of the D3, but wonder if the extra weight/size and cost of long telephoto would be worth it

30D and I love it.
I played around with the 40D and liked it, but for some reason I still dig my 30D.Nikons are nice to but not my choice.

I use an old polaroid from the 80s.

400D and love the son of bitch. by the end of next year will I hope to go full throttle and get Mark III
- slappy0
I have the 30D, have played with 40D and love it but not enough to upgrade. Next body will be 5D for me probably, like this body a lot even though its a few years old, detail is excellent.
Will keep the 30D though, tough and reliable.

I've just made a rash purchase on the spur of the moment and am completely in love with my camera. I planned to buy a Leica M8 Rangefinder, but there isn't a Leica Dealer around these parts... there's one but he's always way over book price... anyway I found something else, the Epson R-D1 Digital Rangefinder. Its awesome. Its a purely mechanical camera with a crank leg and leaf shutters, and it holds Leica M lenses and its a fully fledged Rangefinder, but it has a digital back, so to speak... it doesn;t have a detachable back I should clarify, but to all intents and purposes the digital aspect of the camera is all at the back and leaves all the rest to traditional mechanics. Super fast lens, ultra fast shutter response thanks to there being no digital shutter lag, manual on-the-lens focussing and aperture... ITS A SEXY CAMERA. Also it has firmware upgrades and the chip from the M8 in it so its 12mb not the original 6mb of the R-D1. I really can't stop taking pictures with it. I'm completely blown away by the quality. I just wet my trousers.
- error... by 'mb', I mean 'megapixels' of course.Studiospooky

I still love my Canon 10D. I already had Canon EOS lenses from my 33mm. I would love to have the performance of the high ISO settings on a new camera, but I'm not willing to spend the money for it quite yet.
Isn't there a new Canon vs. Nikon thread every week?

here look ...
http://www.epsonrd1.co.uk/- I want an M8 too but its just not worth the $5K right now with all it's bugs and imperfections. So, I decided on an M6 and a 50mm summicron. Happy days are here again!ok_not_ok
- I have the 50mm Sum on the R-D1. Can highly recommend the R-D1 as a viable alternative to the M8 for 1/3 the cost. There's an R-D2 in the pipeline with bigger sensor too.Studiospooky

-ok_not_ok: I just checked out your Flikr folio... really loving your photography. LOTS.
- Randd0
to summarize: everybody loves their own camera
- Hey, I love your camera too. What camera do you have? oh yes, the D300... not familiar with that so I'm off to hit up Google now.Studiospooky
