Guillermo Lopez, vice president of the Latino Leadership Alliance, said he was called "pork chop" when he worked at Bethlehem Steel decades ago.
Maybe they called him pork chop because he was a fat ass?

what does being mexican have to do with pork?

According to Urban Dictionary:
porkchop: a person of portugese descent
According to my buddy who is half portuguese/half brazilian who I just called he said a) don't call portugese OR brazillians latinos or we'll kick your ass and b) it's not offensive at all....
Anyone else weigh in on this pressing issue?

"General Manager Kurt Landes said he heard from several Hispanics who said PorkChop was derogatory."
Must be specific to a certain country. Never heard it being used as a derogatory term here, generally speaking. crazy beaners :)

Maybe they should just name it Mohammed?

"a) don't call portugese OR brazillians latinos or we'll kick your ass"
That's ignorant. Latinos is an american term applied to people from latin american, althought the term Latin is used to refer to people who speak a language of latin descent, that would include spanish, french and italian speakers."and b) it's not offensive at all...."
True, just 'cause some fat ass got called that as a kid, and his fat ass happens to be hispanic, doesn't mean all hispanics feel offended by the term....unless they're fat asses too.

The mascot should of just been renamed Fat Ass... then he'd of got the message

A) "communities" based on race are stupid/bad idea/lead to no good.
B) people need to lighten the hell up. It's a freakin pig named pork chop. Who is going to make any association beyond that?
