Newstoday® showed its true sign of being a successful high traffic community driven website today after crashing its default (as) Appliance Apache and MySQL server systems. Wehooo! These servers are quite capable of mass
traffic, but they need some special tweaks here and there which we have completed. No one expected this many visitors...! A few stats to share with the Newstoday® party people:

• 1.5 million news requests last month

• 1.2 million news requests since Oct. 1st

• 55,000 unique users

• 97% of you are using Internet Explorer

• 1 of the 15 most requested servers from (mt) data center

Together Newstoday® and Media Temple have completed first round performance tuning and server configurations that will keep contributor and public driven news access available to all. If anyone has ever had a site that generates a 300-500mg log file in a single day you can imagine what web server and database were going through. Anyway, enough tech talk.
