ah yes... that time again.
so I havent given my freelance clients the files.. simply because he hasn't paid.
He says he can't pay until his business takes off or get ssome funding.
Do you guys ever get any clients that think they are allowed to pay, AFTER they start making money or get money later?
I wasn't aware that we, as designers/developers, were suipposed to be giving out loans.
I must've missed the memo.

WTF?
What a fucking nutter.

Are you a designer or a banker?

Time to let the baseball bats do the talking to the kneecaps. If he's going to treat you like a loanshark, you should repay in kind...

I have the problem right now, my client (a design studio) has not paid me a september invoice with the argument that their client has not paid them.
Fuck that.
They've been starting to give me shit like that lately. I feel tempted to dump 'em.

I see you're in CA.
If this is a substantial amount of money (or if you don't mind burning bridges aquiring them) I could hook you up with a guy I know who "refreshes" peoples memories. No joke. I've used him myself doing overseas business with a firm in the bay area who wouldn't pay...

We have a client with the same situation with an outstanding payment for 3+ years. The partners have written him off basically.

I'm amazed how easy that is to get away with in the US. Do that in most Euro countries, and you'd have a negative credit rate within 80 days away from payment, and not even be allowed to buy an iPod on layaway.

hahaha jox, so this friend of yours, can he travel around the country?

(Oct 24 07, 11:31)I'm sure he will. Although it can get costly, he's so wide so you'd have to get two plane tickets for him to go anywhere...

I have a client that hasn't paid me $130 since the last 6 months or so.
She hasn't asked for any updates either. I know she has them as well.
its crazy.

I normally always get the final payment before releasing files. I recently did a 2nd phase rush job for a startup knowing he wouldn't be able to pay until sometime the next month. It caused me a lot of stress waiting for it. I put up with a lot of bs I normally wouldn't have in effort to keep him happy until I got paid.

i've dealt with that and it sucks.it was the same small business kind of thing. they owed me over $5k. i waited patiently for months. it finally came down to me mentioning a claims court. i had the check by the end of the month.
fuck that and fuck them. if you can't pay then do the work your damn self.

this is a learning moment, either you are a n00b to this world, or you just let yourself be victimised.
be patient or play it hard..
i can't judge it from here, depends on what you agreed...

Get over there with a big length of pipe. Don't leave until you have the keys to his car, and the signed title.

hit them in the nose with a basketball.
Say sorry afterwords, but subtley let it be know that you're not really all that sorry.
Then in the future, consider a retainer.

guy is kinda a douche, one of those that thinks he knows photoshop so wants to stand behind you for a couple of hours while you design his stuff telling you to make it bigger, especially when you have content text at 48pt. stupid.
Anyways, i haven't released files to him, but he blames me for holding up his business which is why he isn't making any money, which is why he can't pay me.
he is trying to make sense out of non sense, and its irritating.

Maybe he's really your wife?

...now that i think about it... there are alot of similarities
