NO WAY PONYBOY. IF WE JUST GET RID OFF ALL THE REPUBLICANS, AND HAVE A GOVERNMENT OF 100% DEMOCRATS ALL THE PROBLEMS IN THE UNITE.... NO... THE UNIVERSE WOULD BE SOLVED.
SORRY FOR THE CAPS. I'M DOING SOME WORK WITH THE CAPS LOCK ON AT THE MOMENT AND I CAN'T BE ASSED WITH TURNING IT OFF.
OH, AND THAT WAS SARCASM ABOVE. :)
PONY TOWN IN THE HOUSE!

Ben's full of shit on that one then...
... you can't live in harmony w/your neighbor if you don't find a middle-road to get along...
... that requires being 'reasonable'...
... sometimes you need to give up what's most precious in order to guarantee in the future...
... this country will disappear in time if both security and civil liberties aren't kept in check..
... but you have to be 'reasonable' in order for it all to work...
... what Ben said... is not reasonable.

on the upside, it looks like the d300 is gonna be great at high iso

ponyboy, what civil liberties were lost when we had 3,000 missiles aimed at US cities or during WW2, all of them or none of them?
- flashbender0
My biggest fear with giving up any liberties to this government - and by this government I don;t mean this administration, I mean the US government - Republican or Democrat - is that once you give things up you will never ever get them back unless something drastic happens. And by drastic I mean revolt of some kind.
The entire system of checks and balances that used to be in place has been corrupted beyond repair in my opinion.
- Mimio0
I think the "reasonable" way has already been tried. Now, those powers should expire. The Dems have the right idea we should revise the FISA system appropriately and change the way warrants are issued. The blanket warrants are unconstitutional.

---i can't answer that dobs... and that's old news...
... we live in a different world were we can communicate on-the-fly... where info moves IMMEDIATELY...
... I can't compare the world we live in now to even 20 years ago... the cold war is gone...
... we're not faced w/just a single political giant on the other side (Russia)...
... now it's a terror cell here... a training camp there... not in ONE specific politically unified realm/country... but an absolute UNKNOWN number of RELIGIOUSLY DRIVEN MILITANTS...
... hiding... here and there... ready to plant a lil bomb here... and blow up a bus over there...... you cannot compare the state of our World to 20 years ago and expect to glean anything useful to apply to today's issue...
... our world doesn't fit that old playbook....
... this 'threat' comes from one of 'faith'... not one of political desire.

Also, national security seems like an illusion. There's 10-12 million people in this country without a visa, id, or passport. They could be anyone.

At least we would know who they were if they were citizens or registered visitors. Instead we've got people with expired visas hijacking jets.

(Oct 9 07, 14:32)Yeah we gotta fix this immigration plan. That's one of the things that really gets me going. Out here in the San Fernando Valley they put up a bunch of those red light cameras...to catch people running red and issue them a ticket...well it turns out, a year later...some 50% of the people who ran them...their license plates are expired, false, etc. etc. - So basically, 50% of the people who run red lights here, are illegals. Insane! How are we even okay with this?? We're so worried about tapping phones but we don't tighten our borders?
- mrdobolina0
kona,I love how you never respond to anything I say...
I realize I make fun of your dumb ass but at least I take part in the debate, you fucking clown.
- mrdobolina0
ponyboy, ben franklin was right.
- tommyo0
Ben Franklin never met Osama.
I think we need to bend a little for our freedoms...but I think, and this is just my personal opinion...but a Judge should be stamping these wire taps, why Dems and Republicans are fighting for warrant less taps is beyond my comfort level.
- mrdobolina0
because the republicans play dirty and will call dems pussies if they dont vote for it, I am not defending it but that is a fact.
Republicans are evil and dems are pussies.
- tommyo0
Rick, that's not the case at all...that's just your justification. Helps you sleep at night to think that the foe of my enemy is my friend.
Democrats have been selling you guys a dream, pandering to what you want to hear. Now when it's time to put the rubber to the road, they drive just like Republicans. Hillary is back peddling on Iraq, congress is back peddling from wire taps. How does that make you feel?
- BonSeff0
the only 2 dems that have a hard line stance are kucinich and gravel, and paul on the repub side. and all three are seen as batshit crazy..
- BonSeff0
but i will agree, the dem congress is a huge disappointment
