let me give you some advice: if your ceiling is dripping, don't sleep under it... because of the noise of drips landing in the bucket, I decided I'd go sleep on the couch, then like 1 hour later huge chunk of bedroom ceiling lands on floor...

Yeah that happened to my brother, a few beams came down too and broke his bed.

    Advice to live by.

obviously! after the stucco gets drenched it weights considerably more, and then - well then you know the rest of the story.

well if it was only wet stucco that fell...and it was cold out because of the rainfall...free blanket that hugs you like a mother.
okay...that's probably not that great :)

there must be a lot of water running around to soak down a large piece of plaster in 1 hour - or it was already more unstable than it showed.

if it's rain through one spot you're safe for now - if it's pipes i'd check for more drips.

My closet shelf collapsed in my last apartment, omg what a fuckin mess that was. Ripped out a big section of the wall to reveal the boards behind it - this was an old building in Chicago, at least 60 years old if not more.

The plaster dust was EVERYWHERE, I still find bits in pieces in shoes or clothes or jackets I rarely move, AND I AM IN A TOTALLY NEW APARTMENT SINCE AUGUST 2005! :D

    It was horrible.
