This thread really begs for a new thread altogether:
Sitcoms Vs. Shitcoms

Why buy that? You can't throw a rock at the tv guide without hitting an episode.

People buy boxsets so they can have more control about what exact episode or scene they want to see, plus it is accessible at any time and in any place, as long as you have a DVD player.

My favorite line from all of Seinfeld, hope you know the episode:
"Your father wears sneakers in the pool? That's what you had to tell me?"
- flavorful0
hahahahaha when he has Jerry switch the tapes on her answering machine!
Yes!
... I JUST LOVE JOKES LIKE THAT!
- mg330
LOL flavorful, it's my favorite by far. Among the other gems:
"Tipie Toe, Tipie Toe!"
"Let's go in the bedroom, I have something really important I need to tell you."

Lemon Tree!

I don’t know what your parents did to you.

Seinfeld is funny, no doubt, but it really is in it's own sub-genre. To argue against it would be like trying to argue South Park vs. the Simpsons in a room of 50 people.
Regardless, there were/are so many great sitcoms:
Sanford & Son
Married With Children
Diff'rent Strokes
What's Happening
Good Times
Martin (yes, I mentioned it again)
Three's Company
Bosom Buddies
The Odd Coupleman, I could go on an on...
