i'm not a print designer, but surely worrying about what your portfolio case looks like is like dressing up you web portfolio in needless flash? if you have nice work, does it really matter? honest question, i'm not ripping the pish for once...

i have a typical carrying case with boards and handhelds though i do want to build a case to preserve the craft a bit better. my teacher had his in a opaque white plastic case with foam inside and he cut holding places in the foam for his boards and handhelds and gave enough room to add more over the years. i believe he also had his logo transfered onto the case. don't believe it took much time, effort or money and it looks really professional and clean.

i got lucky on paper as i was living with a paper maker at the time and he gave me everything. lots of brands and kinds were used but i mostly stuck with mattes.

you should build your book to suit the type of job you're after. for instance, if you want to work in packaging then you should package your folio creatively and with lots of care.
