I saw the film a few days ago. It is one of my favourite books in the series, and I think the director did a fair job with putting it on-screen (unlike what happened to the 4th film). Many parts were missing, but what else can you do with a 2.5 hour film? I'm glad he will be directing the next one as well.
Overall, I give it 9/10. The action sequences and graphics added an extra 1 point.
Really, though, this film sets you up for the next one.

He dies at the end of the new book.*

I'm curious, did you read the books?
People who have read the books are usually not as happy with the film adaptations compared to people who have not. Not that I don't love the films as well....I just find that you notice all of the flaws when you have read the books, which makes sense.
So the 4th one was great, but nothing worth getting too excited about.

Good Wizard battle in this one. I liked the last movie too.

More of my favourite characters are present in this one too, like Tonks, Sirius, and Bellatrix.

Really dug the flick a lot. Nice and dark. Watching Gary Oldman filled my with good-acting-sunshine.
The only problem was seeing it at a theater in urban Yonkers, NY on a Friday night. Bad move. We all had to get security to drag ten loud obnoxious teens out. Will have to go again in another week when it dies down a bit.Although it was hysterical when Harry and Cho kiss, some guy in the back of theater yelled out,
"Yeah, you beat dat shit up, N*gga!!"
There was much laughter in the theater.

hahah, nice. I could care less about that relationship, but I'm glad it was realistic.
Gary Oldman is ace.

(Jul 17 07, 07:43)so are the chronicles of narnia, huck finn, tom sawyer and other greats. that doesn't stop them from being literary classics, as the HP series will inevitably become.

I hope more major people die. I'm glad Rowling went with people dying all the time, because it makes sense and it's more realistic (in a fantasy world).
That being said, I heard she changed the ending of the next (and last) book. I'm guessing she had Harry dying in it, and changed it to better suit the audience.
