  Do any of you freelance at work while you are at your real job?

  I have corporate gig that is slower than the agency life and I get a chance to secretly do side work and make some phat cash.

  If you have nothing to do go for it. It also depends on your current job's policy. Some bosses don't care what u do when there's down time as long as it doens't violate any policies or rules.

  i would highly suggest you don't do that. honestly, if you are not putting in your full to your job there, what is the point in staying?

  personally (so take it with a grain of salt), i cannot stand sitting back and just letting stuff 'happen' to me. if there was not to do, i would suggest or find areas where there is or where i could contribute and grow.

  aside from this, your employer (if they discovered this) could a) beat the shit out of you for it, b) the clients are then traceable and liable for the work and the employers time/equipment for the work.

  Never actually designed in the work place but I have taken calls from Clients and printers. etc...

  imho, it's your employer's responsability to keep you busy, if he/she can't do that then you are entitled to find side work and keep yourself busy.

  Dont get me wrong I am not the slacker, stab the company in the back worker. When its a little slower or I have lots of work done, nothing on the horizon I do a little side work! Its all good. Plus the corporate stuff is so slow.

  true. I am a freelance but have a parttime contract at the moment. I stipulated that I would be able to answer calls and emails wilst working for them, it works really well

  yeah, if you are ft i would feel guilty about doing freelance on the clock. and if i was full-time freelance at a company and it was slow i would just go home and work on freelance. bad news to combine.
