very original and sometimes very freaky!

i love stories with nazi's in them

i love stories with sharks AND nazis in them. If i could somehow merge the history channel with national geographic i would be very happy indeed.

it was good...but i don't think it lived up to all the hype.
they built up so much of the promo stuff on the monster with hand-eyeballs...and then it was only in the movie for like 5 minutes :\ sup with that?

I liked it. I also liked it better than Mirror Mask and I am a huge Mckean freak.
There were parts that didn't work for me but overall I thought it was quite good. And very, very creepy at times too.

Very derivative of Jeunet and Caro in terms of style. The plot resolution was pretty lame too. Way too over-hyped.

I can't count how many times Jeunet and Caro have been jacked.

i found it unbelievably sad, but what i took from it was the same thing i took from that book "life of pi"...that it was all a fantasy to help the girl escape from the nightmare she was living.

".that it was all a fantasy to help the girl escape from the nightmare she was living."
sounds like blow-han

It wasn't an escape from reality though - the book she's given by the fawn is evident in her real life.
A gorgeous, dark movie - vicious and sad yet hopeful too. One of my favourite over the past few years.

hey it's just my perspective...i can't remember if anyone other than herself handles or talks about the book

The Captain picks up the Mandrake and the chalk provides her escape. The worlds overlap.
- -sputnik-0
so that means the mandrake and chalk had to come from pan? those two things are not supernatural

Nazi's? there were no Nazi's, they were spaniards under the rule of franco (same shit)

yes, very interesting structure. Film about normal bad guys versus good guys with sniplets of fantasy, yet it's sold and we buy it as pure fantasy film....
